Hillsborough Community College Fall 2011

Published

Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.

I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?

What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?

Yep calculated it a full .2 lower than what it is. I can appeal, but my GPA is so low already I don't know what good it will do.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. You have no idea how much I envy you.

I'm so, so sorry. An appeal might be warranted, especially if it makes your GPA high enough so that you could be accepted as an alternate. I'm sure, out of the 120 some odd students accepted, that many of them will chose a different school to attend or decide that this isn't the right time to start the nursing program.

If I don't get accepted, I'm probably going to the technical institute for my LPN and then doing the bridge program for m RN. I just hope a 3.57 is good enough, ... and that they calculate it correctly.

@Chall.... I am really sorry to hear they miscalculated your GPA! I definitely think you should appeal even if (worst case your calculated is supposed to be a 3.2 so what!) APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL!!! You don't what the cut off will be. Go for it! You'll only kick your self if you don't appeal and you realize that your gpa WAS good enough. Good luck :)Everyone else getting letters... Congrats :-) :yeah:

Thanks everyone!

I have a 3.81 but it could have also been calculated as a 3.67. I don't know which they would use.

What class could they have used to calculate differently? Just curious because I have an A in Statistics but had a B in college algebra but I heard that they don't accept Stats math courses as pre req???

I'm in Lakeland & I didn't get anything today!! :(

It is my understanding they would use your college algebra grade.....

I'm sorry Mrsgood, I know how you feel. So, you, Kristen and I will know something tomorrow. (fingers crossed)

Chall, I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. You should definitely appeal. Keep trying and register to take a class to replace your lowest grade. You will get there!!

Anyone who has received their letters: My friend got her acceptance letter but it doesn't state a campus. Any idea how or when we get this information??

mrsgood--last years forum said it came in a separate letter after they finished with the appeals.

You're right, when I was accepted for the Spring 2011 term I received my campus assignment right after the appeals were complete......

Just woke up due to working last night/early this morning at the hospital. My mail carrier doesn't come till around 3 usually (I live in Tampa). GPA is 3.66. I will let you know if I receive a letter and the status!

Got my letter today and was denied because of my math. I took MGF 1106 Finite Math at USF, prenursing, thought it was equivalent to the College Algebra. Should I appeal?
