Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

Studenthope...sounds like you are in a very similar situation to mine! And...it worked out for me, as I am sure it will for you! Glad that you are finding this thread helpful, as it has been a lifesaver to many of us!! Keep up the good work and you will be in the program soon!! Good luck!

:)

To my cohorts...not long, now!! I have everything except the ID and badge holder which I intend to get some time in August when ,supposedly, I will show up in the system!!

I ended up going with a Littman Classic II SE stethoscope...It sounds great to me...have tried it on myself, my children, and even one of my cats!!!:lol2: I wonder what other things they will end up being "guinea pigs" for?? Just kidding...

Hope all is well...I have not been studying ahead much lately...been on vacation and I am struggling to spend as much time as I can with my children. Need to buckle down and knock out the rest of the Clinical Calculations chapters, SOON!

Take care, all...and see you soon!

Oh...BTW, for those of you who have been looking for the Skechers Shoes (Shape Ups-WORK)...they are on sale on-line right now at Kohls.com for $84.99!!! Plus...there was a "peel-to-reveal" coupon that just came out for Kohls that can save you an additional 15, 20, or 30% off.

ALSO: Remember that we need a watch with a second hand (for taking vitals)...just thought about that one.

Hope this helps!:)

Hi Everybody! First off, thank you so much for the amount of information you have provided for HCC! I start my prereqs in the Spring. Unfortunately I slacked last time I was in school and got a C in English Comp...so when I went to the advisor to speak about my GPA and the nursing program, she explained that there are "supporting classes" which would bring up my GPA? Is this true? Doesn't the nursing program just take the prereqs classes to make up your GPA? I'm confused and I don't want to take extra classes that won't be counted. I just want to make that grade a B by getting an A. Did any of you do this? I am so excited and looking into getting into the 2010 nursing program :) !!!! Can't wait!:nurse:

your gpa is calculated based on your pre-reqs only. however, if you are in a tie with someone for the last spot they will look at your overall gpa. don't know how often that happens but i guess its a possibility. good luck!

Thanks!! So do you have to take the supporting classes to get your degree? I'm looking over them now. It seems so. Thank you so much for responding. It took forever to decide on where to go and now that I can focus on one school, the questions are getting more and more detailed lol! I truly appreciate this website and all the info I have found! I'm sure I'll be a permanent fixture on it lol!

yes you will still need to fulfill the degree requirements for an as as stated by the state of florida. this will include taking additional classes in humanities, englishes (english ii), science (most people take nutrition), ect. here is the link to the hcc catalog and look at page 68 for asn basic option degree requirements. hope it helps!

Good luck SB. What courses are you taking in the fall?

I don't think I will be taking anything until the spring. I have an almost 3 year old and need time to figure out schedules for him, but I am thinking Sociology and MAT1033 (Intermediate Math) I have already taken English Comp, I just wish I didn't get a C in it...ughh to being young and irresponsible!

Don't forget about taking online courses. That way you don't need a sitter for your toddler. Even if you just take one class this fall, you are one step closer.

Hi guys, hope your summer is going great. I wanted to see if anyone has nthe name or number to the NP who conducted our drug screen. She did offer to do our physicals.....correct ? I don't have a GP so I would love some help if anyone has any sugestions on someone I can see quickly or the NP info. Any help would be great thanks in advance.

The name of the NP is Jean. The phone number is 813 877 5223.
