HESI EXIT EXAM

Published

anyone have input, hints, whatever else you could offer for HESI exam V1? I actually believe that all versions 1 would be the same and all version 2 would be the same, but I could be way off. my thought it if they're dispatching this almost nationally, then it'd be easier to have a system like that. anyways ANYTHING would be helpful. so far I think I'm doing the right things, like I own about 3 or so HESI/NCLEX books/CDs what nots so I'm using that. I just have no direction on where to focus as there's so much! how many questions are there by the way. I wish they would offer a BLUE PRINT...so ridiculous. I guess NCLEX DOESN"T offer a blue print but this test what I have heard from other colleagues is harder than the NCLEX. well I'm going to make pancakes. Hope to here form someone either here or via my email [email protected] (underscore between mercedes and adam). I really think for those that need a little something extra, if we come together we'll hopefully get through it.

Oh the HESI. The first time I took it i failed according to what my school wanted. They gave us the HESI book and I studied from that, just one section at a time. When I went to take it before graduation, I was nervous. If we didn't pass we couldn't graduate or be with our class.

Thankfully I passed and scored over a 950. Just study and relax when you take the test. Read each question carefully and pick the answer that makes the most logical answer.

hi, recently took V2 not sure if they are all the same questions or not. To me hesi is content so the studying I did was from Saunders and my notes from school. I did also purchase a hesi nclex review w/ cd that I think was very helpful. Relax and study materials that you have hesi in my opinion is things we learned in school. Good luck, "You CAN DO IT".

sorry just saw your response, still trying to figure this site out. Im not sure because the hesi entrance exam we took was more of basic math(fractions, proportions, etc). Spelling, reading and word recognition also some chemistry. No where near the hesi exit. by the way I passed hesi and now awaiting Att. Good luck"You Can Do It".

i take the exit hesi coming up on october 22. i am along with everyone else trying to figure out the best way to study, but what all my teachers have been telling us.....do practice questions every day! i have been doing some the past few days and it has made me feel more confident. i am about to start going through the actual hesi review book bc i feel overwhelmed with all the content that i feel like i need to review. but you will be surprised by how much you actually do remember in doing practice questions. one teacher also said that you should mostly study medsurg and critical care because that is the majority of the test (so don't obsess over specialty topics, just lightly review them). good luck to everyone else that will be taking it soon!!!

(the things i am using to study: the thin blue hesi nclex book, saunders 4th ed nclex review, cds from the books dont forget those there are many practice questions available there, nclex 4000 software --> all practice questions from all topics)

hi gobananas15 hesi is more of content base, things we learned in school, so for me yes i did plenty of questions and then i studied with my saunders book which is content base that did help me. good luck "YOU CAN DO IT"

Hello everyone. I took my first Hesi today and failed by one point!!! I have to retake it on Nov. 13...does anyone know if V2 is harder than V1? Also if anyone has taken V2 and can think of anything that would help me I would appreciate it.

I just took the HESI Friday and I passed by 8 points. I thought it was very different then what I was expecting. It did not seem as general as I expected. Most questions seemed to be about a specific thing about a specific disease. What a stupid test; I am glad I passed but that is a horrible indicator of one's overall knowledge about the past 2 years of education.

JKAnderson- You were SO close, and that stinks that you have to redo, but you know the stuff! Obviously since you only missed the mark by 1 point. I don't know anything about the versions of the test but I wouldn't imaging it would be 'harder' than the first one, plus I also don't know how the versions vary between schools. However, if I was retaking, I would go over med surg (mostly) and prob looking at specifics such as reviewing diseases to make sure I know the basics. If you studied the first time, then you most likely have a good foundation to study the second time. You will pass it!

I am not a HESI professional but I play one in NS. :D

Seriously, we have to take a HESI exam as a final exam for almost every class w/ a clinical attached we take in nursing school. So far, we have had fundamentals, psych, med-surg 1, and OB or Peds. Our OB and Peds classes are mini-terms & I just took the OB HESI.

We have a benchmark score of 850 they want us to meet to be considered a 'passing' grade. So far, I have benchmarked 3 of my 4 exams and I had an 820 on the one I 'failed'. We are required to pass the final HESI in our last semester of school to be allowed to graduate. We have three chances to take that one but for a lot of students that have yet to pass one, that is a LOT of pressure!

The HESI book has been the NS bible for me. It is published by Evolve which is the company that writes the tests. So far, everything that was on the HESIs I've taken have been in this book and most have been in the highlighted "HESI Hint" sections.

**Just FYI, there is a new HESI book that is scheduled to be released in November** I think you can pre-order it through Barnesandnoble.com.

My book is totally worn out with a lot of highlighting and dog-eared pages and such. It has truly helped me pass the dreaded HESI exams.

I just took the Hesi last week. I did NOT buy the Hesi review book, instead I used Saunders and did tons of practice questions. Truly I thought that the Hesi was based on your ability to choose the 1st intervention, safety, and responding to your patients correctly. I didn't think that it was knowledge based at all. Alot of books tell you how to weed-out incorrect answers and narrow down to a 50/50; I used these strategies alot on the test and it worked for me. I scored a 980 and did 3 days worth of studying prior to the test. Relaxation is key...........

Its SOOOOOOOO good to know that I'm not in this boat alone. I finished nursing school in 2008 and I've taken my exit exam 3 times. The last time was April of this year and I scored 865 and passing at my school is 900. I was very disappointed and heartbroken but I am studying again to take this exam before the year is out. I wanna start the new year with a new career, new tax bracket, new home, initials behind my name (LPN), and just a newer outlook on my life and things that I CAN accomplish. So good luck to all of us and keep the faith, study hard, and pray even harder and we ALL will make it though.

Praise God for you guys! I finished school in 2006 and was not able to pass my exit exam and not able to graduate because of the school policy. I'm praying that God work something out and overturned that decsion. Congrats to you guys though!

Hi everyone I'm a new member on this site but have been keeping up with the site to read peoples comments and advice. Also I promised myself that if ever something good happens to me after nursing school I would share my thoughts. Anyways I too failed my exit HESI exam and so I know what this exam can do to a person, anyway to make a long story short the policy of holding us back from graduating was over turned and we were able to graduate and sit for the NCLEX and I cannot share this enough seven of us who failed the HESI took an NCLEX review and we all passed the NCLEX in one try. So this is proof that HESI is no where near a predictor whether a student can pass the boards or not and should not be used as a graduating requirement but just as what it is supposed to be and that is an assessment tool no more no less

Praise God for you guys! I finished school in 2006 and was not able to pass my exit exam and not able to graduate because of the school policy. I'm praying that God work something out and overturned that decsion. Congrats to you guys though!
