HESI Every SINGLE Semester?

Nursing Students HESI

Published

So my school makes us take the HESI at the end of every single semester. If we make a 950 we don't have to take our final. I have yet to take one, ever, except for the entrance one and that one had NO nursing on it, and I don't know what happens if we make less than the passing score on the HESI. I heard we have to repeat both Freshman semesters, As I have already repeated the first freshman semester, I am really nervous about this dang test, I'm not even sure how to study for it on top of clinical, tests, and all the studying I already do for nursing school. Is there some type of book or something?????

We took a HESI after med surg 1 and 2, OB, peds, psych, and community. You had to score an 850 to get a bonus point, and we still had to take finals regardless.

My last semester we had to take a different version of each specialty test AGAIN and had to score at least an 850 to pass the test. Each test was counted for points--you either got 20 points or 0 and you only had 1 chance. Then we had to take a comprehensive/practice NCLEX test. We had 2 chances to score 850 but you had to pass in order to graduate. So basically we had to pass the comprehensive and pass 3/5 specialty HESIs to graduate.

hello,

can anyone give me any suggestion on what is the best book to use to prepare for HESI MIDTERM TESTS?

I have read a lot about HESI entrance exam, or exit exams, but couldn't find enough info about HESI MIDTERM.

Please help. i am a first semester student, trying to prepare for the test.

Thank you

We had to take the HESI after every class ( like OB, PEDS, MENTAL HEALTH, FUNDAMENTALS, and MED SURG) and if we didnt pass we had to remediate...but we have an exit we HAVE to pass before we take boards..Thats the one I am on now...scared

@alunchik...it's hard to find study stuff for the midcurricular because it is tailored to the classes your school requires before the cutoff...ie, our midcurricular did not have pediatrics on it because we haven't taken it yet, but yours may. Just find out what classes youre taking before the cutoff and go to town on that hesi nclex book and cd. It's the only thing thay helped me pass!

We also have HESIs every semester. We have a HESI on the same day as the class final for each nursing subject. They account for about 15% of your grade and we all study the entire semesters worth of work to try to pass them, but we also have ATI practice tests to help out with that. This semester I have 3 HESIs. I'd say know the subject matter so that you are able to prioritize like you would for NCLEX because that is what I had to do for the last one. If you have access to ATI it is also a great tool.

HESI and Final on the same day? WOW that's bad. At least we had a week between our HESI and Final. Our HESI is worth 5% of our total grade.

I just took my first HESI after fundamentals and scored a 1216. I basically read the questions carefully and just rationalized them out. I found the questions on regular exams less straightforward. I didn't have time to do a lot of "extra" prep bc I'm in an accelerated online program (clinicals on weekends) since most of my classmates work, and our regular exams usually covered 8-10 chapters every 2 weeks, with pharm tests the alternate week. Don't stress over it!! It's not that bad!

Get the HESI Nclex book!! Our lecture tests come from HESI materials...I study from that book only. I usually just glance over my lecture textbooks. I make B's on lecture tests and have passed 4 of 4 HESIs so far. The book is a lifesaver! It has "HESI hints" that are specific to each test. Also, if your school uses HESI you should have an Evolve password. Log on and do the case studies and Nclex practice with HESI questions. It really helps! Promise!

I have an Evolve password, where do I find these case studies/questions? I just had my health assessment HESI and scored 1175, but I would have liked to review more beforehand. I had looked on the site and couldn't find any practice questions other than our text resources.

In my program, the HESI IS your final exam, and worth 20% of your grade. I've never made below an 88% on them, and I am in my final semester. Elsevier has an NCLEX HESI review book and I have found it to be invaluable, it's usually all I study before finals.

My school is awful I regret coming to it so much. We have a hesi for every single class and it is worth 25% of our grade. Every single time it knocks my A down to a B. It's absolutely ridiculous and I HATE the hesi. It is killing my dreams of applying to grad scool since it knows my 3.7 to a 3.0 every time

I'm confused. We also have to take the HESI at at the end of each semester, so 4 in all. Is there like a HESI 1, HESI 2, HESI 3, and HESI 4? Or do you just take the same test at the end of each semester (this wouldn't make any sense)? When I look on the forum, there is only the "entrance hesi" and the "exit hesi." I don't think we take the "entrance hesi" since I've already had to take the PAX-RN to get into the program. Furthermore, if there are 4 seperate tests, are there 4 seperate study guides??

We have to take the Hesi at the end of our courses and it counts as our final exam. There are different tests for each class you are in. So after fundamentals, your Hesi will be on fundamentals. If you are taking OB, peds, it will be on those subjects. More than likely, you will be taking different exams. And I believe there is an actual HESI study guide that you can purchase. If you are confused about anything, you can always ask your instructor for clarification.
