Hello everyone, I will be starting the new PMHNP program at Herzing University in September. Trying to see if there is anyone else that will be starting the program so that we can connect. Since it's a new program, there is no topic about this specialty and maybe this can provide opportunity for potential students to discuss.

All of these programs are roughly 2 years in length and have similar clinical requirements. The biggest difference is price for me. I would like others input on their comparisons of these programs. Hoping to apply asap and start in the Spring.
Good luck to all.

Curious about where you decided to go. Frontier is a solid program.

I am a prospective student looking to get some advice and feedback from currently enrolled students about the pmhnp program. I would really appreciate any insight on your current experiences, positive things about the program, frustrations etc . Your feedback would be greatly appreciated !
Thank you so much !
Hello Racquel,
I have enjoyed the program so far and find the professors to be approachable. The program requires self direction, and some instructors post useful videos while others don’t. I had weekly quizzes for the Advance patho course. The discussion boards are very interactive and some courses have 2 discussion posts weekly. Some classes have weekly papers and others have maybe two papers for the entire course. The professors want to see the students graduate, and they will work with you if need be. I love the direction Herzing University is going. From being a for profit school to a non profit school that is nationally ranked is good for students. So far, I have completed 4 courses and I’m happy that I chose Herzing. Let me know if you have further questions.

I watched the posted videos but I must say that I did not like it. I wished our professor provided us with PPT that made it easier. I heard some professors do so it depends on who you have for the course. Someone on this forum stated that she has the PPT. Maybe you can reach out.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get through Adv Pharm quizzes? Wondering if the videos help.
Racquel,
I am currently taking advanced patho and take my fist test/quiz today. I will let you know if my study tactics worked or not and then share. Our professor did provide Power Point Presentation and a pdf quick summary sheet. First week, good so far. Will let you know. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much! Is there any way that you can please email me the pdf summary sheet and PowerPoint that your instructor provided you ? I would be so appreciative . My email is [email protected]
thank you

Hi, may I ask who your professor is thanks
I promised I would come back to this thread and update everyone on how it is going so far. I started the PMC-PMHNP on 1/11/21. It is very challenging but very good for me so far. I am really learning a lot and not just memorizing but, learning it! I must admit I believe it matters who you have as a professor. They do not all provide the same info or use the same test. Others have asked if I would share the pdf and ppt however there is one for each unit so that is a lot of information and as I mentioned they do not all use the same information and may not use the same test, they have options. The support has been amazing from an academic advisor, onboarding, clinical coordinator, and coach mentor. The process for clinical preceptor and site approval is super easy and goes really quickly. All the staff has been very responsive to me answering emails, texts, and phone messages in a very timely manner. You have to put the work in but, if you do you will have no trouble. They are there to make sure you succeed. I hope this helps anyone whose looking at Herzing or who is getting ready to start with them. I do not mind sharing tips on how to tackle this information, just reach out to me and let me know.
The clinicals are based on the total number of hours needed. So, if you have 4 weeks of clinicals and it's 45 hours then you divide the 4 weeks and do roughly 11 hours a week. This is just an example. I work 4 days a week so I don't think that will have any bearing. You work out your clinical hours with your preceptor. Herzing will help you by providing a list of preceptors in your area however, the expectation is that you attempt to find them first. If you plan on attending I would start working on getting those set-up. Your first clinical is Advanced Health Assessment which needs to be in a primary care setting. The clinical submission is quite easy. If you need anything else reach out! I hope this helps.

Raquel,
Hi! I can share with you the process and expectations during enrollment. I too, am starting on 1/11/21 so I only have the enrollment experience to share. Camille McKnight is my advisor and she is awesome! My experience has been seamless. They have been fairly responsive when I have called or emailed. The only concern I have is starting and completing the clinical application prior to starting as resources are limited. Otherwise, so far so good! I hope to share more as I get into the program.
