I am starting my first night with no orientation. ITS my first job in the USA!
My boss just text me and say, we are understaffed, night CSS supervisor will show you around and help anything you need, but no one to precept you. =O
Trying to breathe! Okay calm down Remy. We've been through some crazy stuff before. Nothing we can't handle.
But did I mention this is a totally different field of nursing, not just different country? I was SIV?VMER in Portugal, meaning travel trauma/ER nurse, and HERE I am going into SNF now ALONE. Wow. I am not anxious person but I am terrified now. Help!

That is not a good sign. Why would they leave you to your own resources in a field you've never worked in, and you are new to the country?
Big alert here.

Awe.. Sounds like a bad start. Do you have to remain at that employer through a work visa program? If not I would start looking for a new job ASAP!

I'm not sure that I would accept responsibility for patients tonight. That is unfair, unsafe and unAmerican:nurse:
No I have green card. I wasn't good for visa because I am married to citizen
I don't have to work here it was this Or home care and I thought this would be better for new resident is this country ugh
I text her back and I said I am very uncomfortable for safety of patients and facility and self. Can I call you? No answer yet
I feel she over trusts me because I did such intense responsibility and care in Portugal and I also worked in Canada but very big different oh
I would not accept such an assignment. Start looking for a new employee
I think you are right Beachy. I am in tears I was so happy to work again. I was not allowed to work here for so long I did babysitting for friends. I don't feel like a really nurse anymore
You are an experienced critical care nurse, you will find better opportunities

The fact she has not answered you back is not good, you have not had a general orientation either correct? Trust your instincts.

She is NOT overtrusting you. She is using you. Do NOT accept the assignment.
