Everyone knows there are online Microbiology courses that have lab kits where you complete the lab at home with cultures. People get so up tight these days !!!!!!!!!!! When I said with lab it is because there are a bunch of Micro courses online that are 3 credit hours. :smackingf I will shell out $1500 at National Un.:no:

Not uptight. Though a bit concerned about the ever-increasing lack of contact with real people and then wondering why communication is so abysmal. Big difference. :lol2:

Good luck :) I hope you find a good class. I wouldn't want to pay 1000.00 either. At my CC (as of costs in the catalog last week), it would be about 250.00 for the class and lab fees... those were about 100-150 for other science classes; I didn't look specifically for micro).

I wish I lived where you live. Here in Southern Cali it is nearly impossible to get in the CC for science courses. :uhoh3:

That's sad. It's bad enough that nursing school seems to be such a goose chase to just get in, and then not be able to get the classes you need is ridiculous. I'm sorry you're having to go through all of these hoops just to get what you need :(

I needed micro, and literally couldn't find a single one in my state online that wasn't full with a 6 month waiting list. Edukan worked for me, it's the community college consortium of the state of Kansas. They've got a class starting in January. My teacher was Jason Walker and he was great. Your transcript says "Dodge City Community College" as you're in the same class as the students in Kansas. Once I can just go to school for fun to learn stuff, I'm planning on going back and taking astronomy and geology.

WOW. Skimping on everything (IMO :) ). But good to know. I have no doubt it was hard. Next, (or maybe already is) there will be virtual clinicals and then the new grads will wonder why being just out of school and having to deal with real people is so hard. Sad. :o

And once again, fear of lawsuits effects how nursing "happens".

Funny you should mention that, we had an online (supplementary) clinical for OB because nobody wanted to have their baby during our clinical hours. It was useless... they were experimenting with us but I don't think they used the program again.

OB lab online that is insane.:eek: No way that could be done !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never heard of an online clinical. That is totally different from using a science lab kit in your own home.

Yupp... it was pretty dumb. I wish I remembered more about it but honestly I learned nothing, all I remember was that there were various "patients" with different scenarios you had to work through.

Wow- when I had my boys were born the hospital asked if I minded student nurses and I said, 'sure!'.. they were all very nice.

I know it is crazy late, but Cayuga Community College offers a 4 credit online micro course. The class is a few hundred and the lab kit is another $200. They keep adding sections to meet the student demand. The school is part of the State University of NY system, so the credits should transfer.
