I have been accepted into an ADN program. This is my second degree and have almost run out of loans. Does anyone know how I can get money for school? I don't qualify for grants. I llooked into nursing scholarships from surrounding hospitals in exchange for working with tr m after graduation but most of them don't offer it any more. Please help.
I am in the Jackson, Mississippi area
I am beginning to wonder about this site. The one question I asked was viewed hundreds of times and never answered. Then this and other people ask questions and get nothing but bullies...no help. Why is this forum here if not for questions like this???
I specifically look for unanswered questions when I'm taking a break or have time. I just looked but couldn't answer yours. A lot of students right now are either in or getting ready to start a new semester so the timing of your question is why you probably didn't get more replies!
The topic in this post is pretty sensitive and can generate a lot of strong feelings so that's why posts like this can get more replies...
I haven't read all the responses so forgive me if this has already been suggested. Have you looked into tuition forgiveness programs? There are still geographical pockets with great need that may offer tuition assistance and/or loan forgiveness if you work in the area of need for a period of time after graduation.
Of course the catch-22 here is that to qualify for loan forgiveness programs you must first be able to take out the loan. This is where private loans instead of traditional student loans come into play. If you are willing to consider this route be very sure that you will be accepted for this type of program before you commit or you might be stuck with a large private loan and have limited means to pay for it.
have you looked into loans through the bank? Sometimes they will offer you something. The other thing I would suggest is paying out of pocket and go on a month to month basis on what you would owe the current school for payback of your tuition. If this is doable, I would go that route, so this way you do not have to take out a loan at all. When that semester is over, either take a semester off, or pay month to month. I had to do this with my schooling, and let me tell you it was not fun, but at least I did not come out with more debt. Now I am in a situation where I need to stop going to school completely because I cannot afford it anymore, but that is not stopping me from finishing my degree in the future.
