Why do [some] nursing students fail?
Lol! NOT ME, SHE didn't know it! I'm pre diabetic and my sister is type 1 with somogyi effect too. Her not knowing where insulin is made is stupid. A nursing student should have learned that.

Why do [some] nursing students fail?
I had a woman who just barely pass and graduate ask me if alcoholism affects blood sugar and insulin levels. Wait, it gets better. I asked her well where do you think insulin is made?? She said the liver. Thank goodness she failed NCLEX. True story.

Brightwood Closing ALL Campuses!
I'd rather see them held accountable and better regulated. I just graduated in August and passed I NCLEX with 20K in debt- I have a lot of friends who aren't as lucky and pray they can get some loan forgiveness or restitution. This is downright criminal to take advantage of people who seek this route as the only viable option.

Why do some nurses "hate their jobs"?
Posts like these make me want to be a nurse even more. Anyone who's had to care for aging/elderly parents or family with chronic illness for extended periods would love a paycheck and degree for it! Why not? Life is full of thankless "jobs" and being underpaid is better than not being paid? Or am just a masochist? That's a rhetorical question.

Help! Nursing 2nd Career
I completely agree, shadow or volunteer to make sure you like the environment. When I made the decision to return to school and work towards a BSN, I got my CNA, HHA certs. It's not easy at 45 doing CNA work so imagine doing that plus the responsibility of being an RN! Don't let A&P scare you! The human body is fascinating and you could be surprised how much fun it is to learn about and what you probably already know.

I made a medication error - Now what???
Please tell me you tipped your bike in the hospital lot after your shift:***:...

Random: best lotion for dry nursing hands!
I have Avon Silicone glove, Eucerine, Aquafor and Goldbond diabetic lotion in my bag right now- I'm not kidding! Gildbond is my favorite but that's because I haven't tried the Burts or O'Keefes yet... My hands get so chapped they bleed and sting.

You may require an RN license to believe this, BUT... You are NOT a "loser" for walking away from a god awful job!! I'm impressed you've stuck it out this long. Stop feeling bad- this is not your fault. Others have stated that bad companies have a reputation and this new one will probably beware of that. I have left a job once and did the ethical thing and gave notice during the probationary period it bit me in the butt. I didn't have a new position waiting as promised. It was a costly error. I don't want that happen to you. This is not a licensure issue, this is an ethical one and it is OK to leave a toxic environment. I would suggest you look at it from that perspective. It's also OK to let the interviewer know that it just wasn't a good fit and that your passion is in this specialty. You will be surprised at how often this happens... being true to yourself is not being a bad person. You have qualities that are hard to find these days and I think that will come through rather than your feelings of being a "loser"! Believe that.

College put off decision from March until June - ??
They are most likely waiting for your prereqs to be satisfied first. My friend was just told this last week by admissions to a cal state program- her biochem needs to be met first, they won't let her in. She has a 4.0 and Exemplary TEAS V scores. She'll be cutting it too close for the next cohort so they said she'd be placed on a wait list.

Life, death, and dying.
LOL! I love that saying; "rat's pittoti". Reminds me of my grandmother.

You can back peddle and be discriminatory against CNAs all you want. The fact is you told the her to quit before she had a job lined up. That doesn't only apply to nursing! She also said they wanted her to work the floor unsupervised without her BLS... Smart woman for saying NO- cuz... If you were taking care of my relative without one and an event happened, this little CNA would have your "professional" license.

How the heck would you know what professional licenses I hold or don't? I hold three in CA! Real Estate Brokers License and two in insurance- over 32 lines thank you very much! And no one's credibly was in question! Not the OP nor the company! The OP needs to look out for herself- sharing her current employment status off the bat to the dialysis company hopefully won't look like she jumps ships if things get to rough (tough concept I know). The current employer IMO doesn't derserve her loyalty to them, even tho they are entitled to their bottom line. She needs to be loyal to herself! And since you took offense... My inquiry on the BLS was a question. That was the first time I've ever heard of companies hiring without current certification! I know... Difficult concept for me. But it was not a criticism. Stop been so cynical!

Good luck- being a people pleaser and having integrity are rare traits! Please be loyal to yourself first and foremost.
