  1. Why do [some] nursing students fail?

Lol! NOT ME, SHE didn't know it! I'm pre diabetic and my sister is type 1 with somogyi effect too. Her not knowing where insulin is made is stupid. A nursing student should have learned that.

  3. Why do [some] nursing students fail?

I had a woman who just barely pass and graduate ask me if alcoholism affects blood sugar and insulin levels. Wait, it gets better. I asked her well where do you think insulin is made?? She said the liver. Thank goodness she failed NCLEX. True story.
  4. Brightwood Closing ALL Campuses!

I'd rather see them held accountable and better regulated. I just graduated in August and passed I NCLEX with 20K in debt- I have a lot of friends who aren't as lucky and pray they can get some loan forgiveness or restitution. This is downright crimi...
  5. Help! LVN Wages?

I hope this in the right forum... Yesterday my dreams of entering into an ADN program went down the drain. My out of pocket portion is too high and a personal loan for that amount when you're out of work, isn't likely. It's discouraging to knock out ...
  6. Why do some nurses "hate their jobs"?

Posts like these make me want to be a nurse even more. Anyone who's had to care for aging/elderly parents or family with chronic illness for extended periods would love a paycheck and degree for it! Why not? Life is full of thankless "jobs" and bein...
  7. Help! Nursing 2nd Career

I completely agree, shadow or volunteer to make sure you like the environment. When I made the decision to return to school and work towards a BSN, I got my CNA, HHA certs. It's not easy at 45 doing CNA work so imagine doing that plus the responsibil...
  8. I made a medication error - Now what???

Please tell me you tipped your bike in the hospital lot after your shift:***:...
  9. Random: best lotion for dry nursing hands!

I have Avon Silicone glove, Eucerine, Aquafor and Goldbond diabetic lotion in my bag right now- I'm not kidding! Gildbond is my favorite but that's because I haven't tried the Burts or O'Keefes yet... My hands get so chapped they bleed and sting.
  10. Lied to in Interview

You may require an RN license to believe this, BUT... You are NOT a "loser" for walking away from a god awful job!! I'm impressed you've stuck it out this long. Stop feeling bad- this is not your fault. Others have stated that bad companies have a re...
  11. College put off decision from March until June - ??

They are most likely waiting for your prereqs to be satisfied first. My friend was just told this last week by admissions to a cal state program- her biochem needs to be met first, they won't let her in. She has a 4.0 and Exemplary TEAS V scores. She...
  12. Life, death, and dying.

LOL! I love that saying; "rat's pittoti". Reminds me of my grandmother.
  13. Lied to in Interview

You can back peddle and be discriminatory against CNAs all you want. The fact is you told the her to quit before she had a job lined up. That doesn't only apply to nursing! She also said they wanted her to work the floor unsupervised without her BLS....
  14. Lied to in Interview

How the heck would you know what professional licenses I hold or don't? I hold three in CA! Real Estate Brokers License and two in insurance- over 32 lines thank you very much! And no one's credibly was in question! Not the OP nor the company! The OP...
  15. From night shift nursing to Fitness Model

Loved this!!! When she wrote how people would say "haven't you lost enough?" Hit a nerve... I want to throttle people who've said that to me.
  16. Lied to in Interview

Good luck- being a people pleaser and having integrity are rare traits! Please be loyal to yourself first and foremost.
  17. Lied to in Interview

You are walking a thin line at this point. So far your potential employer and current employer have seen your cards. I could easily see you being terminated for standing up for yourself (refusing to go in, refusing to wing it, telling them what you w...
  18. Why can't we all just get along?

"Why can't we all get along?" Where is the fun in that?? :***: Seriously tho, as a former business owner and current student, you're just going have to get a thick skin. They'll be wanting you to share in your success (ride your coattails) while secr...
  19. The "glimmer of light"... Pace yourself. If you can use the time constructively to get the good grades without sacrificing your health (as Nurse Beth apptley pointed out) you will most likely retain more out of your courses which will serve you bette...
  20. working nurses that started late in life

You go girl! Get that BSN and knock out two years on the floor. Once you get that in, you'll have so many more options that are physically less demanding. Your Belts will serve you well. :)
  21. About those new grads----!!!!!

Attitude is everything. Take a know-it-all new grad paired with an overworked, possibly crusty preceptor, who may or may not be getting a differential with the added stress, you get a negative experience for both. Take two individuals with an open mi...
  22. It is, but I seriously am like this!! Thats my shtick, Wake- swak!
  23. Need advice on how to proceed

I'll be 46 this year. At 22 I dropped out of an ADN program. I spent many years in the corporate world while missing and regretting wasting so much time... I'm studying my tush off now and hope to be accepted also. You go for that BSN! It will be the...
  24. Lmafo!!!! This is me?! God help me, I love you sick people!!!! I can't quit you. Or this forum.
  25. Where do I belong?

Me think you'd be bored in ED with all the non-emergent drug seeking riff raff. ... Hmm. Don't they talk about certain departments suited for... Wait for it... Adrenaline junkies?? Certainly not the ED or ICU tho... Good luck girls!
