Help--my lpn daughter is in trouble

Her health problems should not be any of the BON business unless the meds were from a pt or taken from work. I wonder how they even found out about it, or who reported it. Have you considered that perhaps there was some other incident earlier that you don't know about?

that could very well be her state of mind has been very upsetting. The letter said something to the efect of " narcotic diversion" ??? she may have taken something to do real harm to herself. could this effect her license?

Sounds like she is being accused of taking medications that were meant for a patient, and that could result in a loss of license. She must be having a very difficult time.

I am a 25 yr old RN. I was dating a respiratory therapist at the hospital where I worked. After 4 weeks he proposed and I said no. Two weeks later he drove to my house with a loaded gun, took a handful of ambien, and then left and went to work where he collapsed and had to have his stomach pumped. They found the empty bottle and gun in his truck. He was a patient at our facility ( a psychiatric hospital- how ironic!) for 3 days. After a week and being tested to see if he could perform his job, he was allowed to return to work. He was one of the 2 resp. therapist we have to work night shift, he should have been fired for having a gun on state property if for nothing else, but - He still works with me. There is a disability act that ststes that an employee cannot be discriminated against for illness. Drug use/ abuse, alcoholism etc. are considered an illness. She must be allowed to seek treatment and return to her job if she is competant.

Thank you so much, a thousand pounds are lifted form me, she is a good person , a single mom with two girls, and the dad just lost his job-- so, no child suport, she worked so hard to go to school and did very well and is so proud of her profesion, everything came down on her at the same time. she is undergoing counciling and I have th girls, when she gets out she will stay with us untill she is well, and able to perfom he duties, thank you and God Bless

Your daughter needs to ask for info about peer assistance programs through your state nursing board. Most states do have a means of assisting nurses with drug/alchol/ psychiatric problems IF they are willing to get help and be monitored.

if she does not ask for help and be willing to do this, she may well lose her license. Encourage her to make a good decision for herself and her future and ask for appropriate help.

I must say minpin that your daughter is very fortunate to have a mother like you. There is a real chance that with your support she can make it through this.
