Hey guys, I am new to this site. I've been reading all sorts of things on here about NCLEX. I just took NCLEX on Friday July 2nd, and tried the PVT and it took me to the credit card page. I was so bummed I had 199 questions, which I think means I was borderline. I think my nerves got the best of me because I could not focus at all. I did the quickresults on Sunday and found out that I "failed". It's such a bummer because all of my friends around me are passing, and here I am being one of the first out of our 200+ graduating class not passing. I don't know how to study again! PLEASE HELP! I did over 5000+ questions, did Kaplan, Saunders and learningext.com. Any suggestions???

Lacharity was the best book i have invested on, the questions are similar quite similar like priority, even has a chapter on infection control, SATA, and med clarifications. delegation too. Go to Barnes and Noble and finish the book, thats what i really did to study.

Relax until you get your official results, then you will know what you need to do next. Good luck.

How were you doing with the Kaplan questions? Do you feel like you had a handle on them, and your nerves just got the best of you, or do you feel like you need to learn content better? It will make a difference how you attack it this time around...
Thanks everyone! I was scoring between 70s-85s on the kaplan trainer questions and with the qbank as well. It's just so disappointing! But it's okay, it's a little bump in the road. It doesn't mean that we're going to be bad nurses, in fact, we're probably going to better nurses! :) Trying to be as positive as I can!
its a hard pill to swallow thats for sure. I had never failed at anything major in my life until this. You have to be positive or you will just fail again is what they keep telling me. I am just waiting for my paper in the mail to tell me what i scored weak on where i can start studying again. I dread paying the cash again thats for sure!! Abouot being a better nurse....other than for the board what you score dont mean nothing..its how much care and compassion you have...thats what makes you a rel nurse just remember that!!!:)

I too just found out this morning that I failed the NCLEX. Most everyone in my class shut it down at 75 so when I got to question 76 I really started to choke, I mean I was a little uneasy from the get go, but 4.5 hrs and 265 questions later I was about to freak out. I just checked out and got to my car and cried, when my friend asked if I got the last question right I couldn't even remember what the last question was. I know I am smart and my nerves got the best of me that day. All I can say is keep your head up, find out what areas you need to work on and keep at it!! You can do it, you've come this far. Good luck!!!

Sorry to hear you failed, give yourself a short break before you start to study again.
What I will say is next time think to yourself that you are going to get max number and then it isn't too much of a shock if the questions go past 75. Good luck for next time

Also keep in mind that 75 isn't an automatic pass. I had heard in the past that it was but a friend of mine got 75 last week and failed. I know lots of people who got 265 and passed. So, don't stress so much over the numbers. Of course, it does take a lot longer to do 265!

I answered 265 questions and I passed, finally!!! I took the NCLEX 9 times before I finally made it. I have answered anywhere from 75 questions to all of them at one point or another. So the amount of questions you answer really has no bearing on if you passed or failed. And for the record, it took me 17 years to pass it as well. I gave up for the longest time and my oldest daughter just started her nursing clinicals and she gave me the inspiration to go back and try it again. I took the Sylvia Rayfield review course 1 week before my exam and it was the best thing I could have done. I also had a transcription job at the hospital and that tremendously helped with drugs and lab values. So hang in there and just remember, just because the computer does not shut off at 75, does not mean you have not passed. You just have more time to demonstrate how intelligent you really are!!! As long as you are answering questions, you are still in the game. Good luck to you all!!!

I 2 just recently failed my RN Exam about 2 wks ago.... I was numb for about a day or 2... Then I told myself I need a break. Which I did and now today I'm back on it...... Whats crazy is I knew my stuff. I graduated with Honors and everything its just when I got to 76 it was all down hill from there. I started stressing and took even longer to answer the questions. I actually ran out of time and didn't even make it to 265.... It was horriable... But I am even more hungry to pass. But just stay focus it is very overwhelming but look at it like me now I know how the test really is and say to yourself that the test is 265 questions... We got this next time!!! I'll k.i.t
