I've never really heard much about it, but I have heard that LIU in itself is a good school?? is this true? please tell me what you know about the nursing program. how difficult is it to get into?
Oh crap,
I am super worried now! I recently applied to the Nursing programs at NYU, Adelphi, and LIU, for the fall 2010 semester. So far, I have received a letter from LIU stating the following "I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University for the Fall 2010 semester. I look forward to having you join the Brooklyn Campus community as a Nursing major." At first I was estatic; I've been desperately wanting to get into a Nursing program and I looked up LIUs test scores on the NY Nclex site. After seeing that LIU had the highest passing rate of any other four year school I thought I would choose it over NYU. However, after reading all of these negative comments about the program I am afraid to even think about LIU.
I applied to Adelphi, with my current GPA being 3.56 and I have all the prerequisites needed for that school (as well as for LIU and NYU), I also took the TEAS exam and got 120 out 150 questions right. So, I am guessing that I have a really good chance of getting into that school... on the other hand, Adelphi has one of the lowest passing rates in NY! ARGHHHH!
Now, I think my best choice would be to attend NYU. I've heard nothing but good things about their program, and their school as a whole. I even spoke, personally, with a student who is in his last semester and he says it is the best experience he has ever had.
Make the best choice for you.
Truth of the matter is every nursing program has its negatives. It comes with the package. I applied to LIU for the fall 2010 semester knowing full well about what I might be getting myself into. I also applied to Pace and CNR.
Make the best choice for you once you get financial aid and all the other info back.
At the end of the day all three programs will give you the same end result.
And remember that LIU still has graduates from the SON who have had the highest NCLEX rates out of 4yr programs in the state.
LIU is not my first choice but if it is yours do not count it out because of comments.
Well, I just received a letter from Adelphi University letting me know I've been accepted to their nursing program. Both schools require that I submit a deposit before the end of this month. I am still waiting for notice from NYU's admission office about my application. I do not know if I should pay the deposit, and for which school...
Ok so I asked Them and they said it won't affect me at all. I have 4 pre reqs to take before entering the professional phase in January.
Good luck, also make sure that you study and take the HESI early, a lot of people put it off till last minute or didn't study and did poorly and had to wait an extra semester or go part-time.

You should contact NYDreamer and guiltysins on this site. NYDreamer is currently in the program and has given me a lot of info and advice about the program.
I am applying for the fall 2010 program and to like four others in the tri-state area and I have heard things about all of them. No program is perfect.
Wherever I go will be the place giving me the best financial aid.
