I tried searching for it under the "Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!" thread but no one ever listed it there. I am going to be interview at the hospital in a few weeks and would like to know about the salary, benefits, and what kind of hospital environment nurses have to work in.

hi everyone, i am currently writing a paper on the history and evolution of the twelve-step program and i need to find out, from a nurse who has worked with addiction clients, about how it has evolved over the years. for example, i've found that there are twelve-step programs for people suffering from internet addiction, sex addiction, job addiction, etc... can anyone tell me how this type of program has worked for addicts? and offer me other information regarding its wide-spread impact on the way we deal with addicts.

I went to The Borough of Manhattan Community College, got an Associate of Arts before getting accepted to LIU and Adelphi University for BSN. I am currently in Adelphi and if I were given the chance to attend a 4yr nursing school within CUNY, I would have taken it without even giving it a second thought. The reason I say this is because my tuition expenses at BMCC were 80% lower than they are at Adelphi (a private institution). Many of my classmates also came from other CUNY schools, including hunter college. Many of them left CUNY because of the ridiculously long waiting lists. However, if you are lucky enough to get accepted into hunter's nursing program, I would say go with that choice because it is one of the best schools for nursing in NYC.

Hey Blackhorizon, Thanks for allowing us to pose questions. What were your academic credentials like prior to getting accepted into NYU? Are you paying for the tuition out of pocket? If not, how is the financial assistance? How do you like the program? How difficult are the classes and the clinicals? What is your experience like with the clinicals? Thanks! Jason

That is not the total number for the College of Nursing; it is more like the total number for all NYU applicants. I read a post on college confidential where students who applied to CAS also claimed that their rejection letter stated there were 5,300 applicants this semester.

I got an 80% on the TEAS. Took the test on March 28 (I believe), and received acceptance 3 days later. Here is a post i made on another thread about my grades: "ENGLISH COMPOSITION I.........A-- ENGLISH COMPOSITION II........A HEALTH EDUCATION..................A STATISTICS................................A CHINESE 101.............................A-- CHINESE 102.............................B+ ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1..............B+ ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 2..............B- ANATOMY AND PHISIOLOGY I.....B- HEALTH SCIENCE MATH..............A DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCH............B+ INTRO TO BUSINESS..................A COMP APPLICATIONS.................A PHOTO 1....................................A SPEECH.....................................A CREATIVE WRITING...................A My overall GPA, as of now, is 3.48 and I am currently taking A & P II and Microbiology. I did not put every single class I have taken in the school because I have over 74 credits right now and I am in a community college. By the end of this semester I should have 86 credits (I only needed 65 to get my degree here)."

If the numbers are as stated on the letter (5,300 applicants) are based solely on the College of Nursing, and there are 150 to 200 accepted, then that means the acceptance rate is only 2.83% to 3.77% this semester... that just doesn't make sense..

If it's OK with you can you please share your credentials? I would like to know what kind of people they let go. Do you feel like your credentials were strong enough for the program?

I hope you mean 5,300 for all NYU schools and not just the nursing school... That number is insaneeeeeee if it's just for the College of Nursing!

Also, can I ask: how difficult it is to maintain above a 3.5 in Adelphi's nursing program?

Congrats! Thank you for posting this! I have also applied to NYU and was considering going there because I want to look more marketable to schools when applying for my masters; but hearing that Adelphi has a program worth going to might convince me otherwise.

I posted a thread about this and there seems to be only one other person on this forum who has also applied to the traditional nursing program lol. We have not received any word on our decision yet however.

Hey there! Thanks for participating in the thread. I attended an open house and we were told that if you are someone who is applying as a traditional transfer student, but qualify as an accelerated student, your application will automatically be bumped up to the accelerated program. I've also read on their forum that they will be sending out decision letters to traditional nursing students after they send out the letters to the accelerated nursing students hence the reason we have not received any information regarding our decision yet. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed for now :-)
