I've never really heard much about it, but I have heard that LIU in itself is a good school?? is this true? please tell me what you know about the nursing program. how difficult is it to get into?

I actually just graduated from LIU. When I started, it was extremely easy to get in, but we went from about 200 students to 40 at the end. The program itself is extremely demanding. It's seriously the hardest thing I've ever been through and there were times when we felt really screwed over by the school. A good thing about LIU though is that they really prepared us well for the NCLEX. We had to take HESI exams every semester and they always challenged us. It's very expensive though (like 16K per semester without financial aid).

Oh and I forgot to mention that they redid the entire curriculum and now they're being very selective about who they're accepting...but I don't really know how bad it is.

You know, a classmate of mine was just telling me that she was told that they are changing the cirriculum. (I start the nursing portion next semester.) She didn't know what changes they meant. I also think that they are changing the HESI entrance exam because people are waiting to take the test. They haven't set any dates yet for people to test, and registration is coming up. I took the HESI last semester so I hope that they won't expect me to take it again. I wonder what the changes will be

I am in my third semster at LIU and i have to agree that the program is very demanding!

The Hesi that we have to take at the end of each semester is really annoying. I have heard

from people who take the NCLEX that they felt as though they were very well prepared. The

school is rather expensive. They did just change the curriculum. They are still using the HESI as

the entrance exam. I think that it is easy to get into LIU, but hard to graduate. Good Luck

Wow, my original post was right before I started the program. I have just finished the first semester. Yes, the program is demanding, just like I would expect any other nursing program to be. The HESI at the end of the semester was brutal. The HESI questions made the Saunders review questions seem easy as heck.

I don't remember because I applied to so many schools. I think it was a month or two?

Hi,

Two of my friends applied to LIU for the Fall 2009 admissions in February/March and they got accepted into the nursing program. I applied On february 4th and was told one of my transcript is missing. I am waiting for a response because they started accepting students in March 09 and I spoke to them today and i was told that theu are still accepting students for the nursing program. Both my friends haven't taken AP 2 or microbiology. They are currently taking AP 1. You need AP 2 n Microbiology before you begin the professional phase of the nursing curriculum.

I have completed AP 1 and 2 Grade A

Chem grade A

Eng 1 n 2 C+

Psy grade B

Develpmental Psych A

Statistics B+

Currently taking Micro and organic. Both my avg in the class is an A.

My previous degree GPA 2.9 and current is 3.4

Finally, my friends haven't taken the Hesi entrance exam but from what i heard, not all students entering take the test because they were not told they have to take the test. one of my friends gpa is a 3.3
