Nurses Stress 101

Published

Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....

Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)

QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?

I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....

Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????

hi chelly! you just keep being you. if someone only wants to "pretend" to be your friend now that you are slimmer, pull out your bottle of olive oil and anoint them with it to wash away their "phoniness". :rotfl:

hi jessica! glad you are happier now in micro because i loved micro, too. my instructor was great, and that does make learning easier. :)

Congrats Gale! You go woman! I need to pep up my exercise, too. Last week, I just didn't feel like stepping on the treadmill. I looked at it, talked to it, tried to convince myself to just get on it and start walking...yet...I just didn't feel up to par last week enough to do it. :uhoh21:

I need to get back to work. I miss patient care, yet my own body is broken and in need of a physical. Got to go back to work so I can get healthcare so I can see a doctor, get the tests I need to see why my arms, back, and shoulders, and now neck are hurting all the time. I can't get "indigent care" because I live with my dd who makes too much money. Well...her money is NOT my money.........the dodos! :uhoh3:

:rotfl: If I were a man, I'd take your body AND the cake! :rotfl:

Cheer: can't muster the enthusiasm for exercises either, got rid of my running machine as it was a very expensive clothes hanger:rotfl:

I used to get really out of breath because I was a smoker and an asthmatic, gave up the cigarettes well over 2 months ago feel much better:balloons: , but do get a bit worried when I go for my power walk and find myself getting out of breath, Thankfully not as bad anymore and am sure after a while the power walks will get easier.

Today is my treat day. Went out to a Vietnamese restaurant and it was good. I have lost another lb so 12 more to go.

Jess, I love Vietmanese. Kudos on the weight loss.

Thanks for the props. I appreciate it. Hope my posting the pic wasn't too arrogant or vain.

Gale congrats on the quitting smoking! The power walks should be challenging but you shouldn't be gasping for air, because you might get an asthma attack. Any good aerobic exercise might cause some increase in respirations, that's not a bad thing, it means your working out. Just take it easy.

Does that bother you when people do that? How do you feel when they do that? How do you handle it?

I find that's one of my problems. I feel very self-conscious and embarrassed after I've lost some weight when people notice like that. I kinda wish they wouldn't say anything at all.

But as long's we're on the subject, you have every right to be proud, because that's quite an achievement! And you look wonderful!
