Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....
Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)
QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?
I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....
Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????
Morning "Wise Warriors of Healthy Eating"!
Getting ready to fix breakfast for myself. I know, I know, I know...it's ALMOST noon and no breakfast. :chair: I've been up long enough to have had breakfast, but had more important matters to tend to first. :)
Think I'll scramble myself a couple of eggs, throw in some cheese for calcium, and eat a slice of cinnamon bread. My drink will be orange juice and my usual bottle of water.
BBL! :icon_hug:
Good morning everybody. It is Friday and I am looking forward to my last weekend before classes start. I am a nervous wreck about next week, but I am going to try to really focus on having a good weekend because I know this semester is gonna be tough.
Jess - I will be keeping my fingers crossed that you do well on your test. I think you will though - I think that you will do just fine, even if your instructor is not up to par. You can do it, I have complete faith in you!!!
Gotta run guys, but will try to check back in later today.
Don't you DARE give up Jess...
Tweety, I know what you mean about the first couple days of stress on a new diet or exercise regimen. It's hard--like quitting smoking, but if you hang in there, you get over "the hump" and it becomes part of your routine, right?
Thanks for that site, Angie, will go check it out.
Renee, I will let you know when i try the Silk and tell ya what I think....
Sarah you remain in my thoughts, too....
Hugs to all. And cheers, here's to a good and healthy weekend.
sarah...i just love your avatar! :) i especially love what it says. that would be a great signature line to have, and an even greater topic of discussion. hmmm.... never know when i might start a new topic about that siggie line in the avatar. :rotfl:
jessica....you'll be loving micro before it's over. i did!
tweety...deb...helloooooooooooooooooo in your neck of the woods!
Deb. your right. If you just stick with a new habit it becomes a habit. I was primarily talking about detox diets, or a starvation diet like Jess is on, or even a fast. I've tried them and just can't seem to even make it one day. It's probably more in my head, but I surrender to the fact I can't live on veggies and rice. :)
Angie, I like keifer as much as I do yogurt. I recently had some good raspberry keifer just a few weeks ago. My main objection is the good flavored ones have sugar in them, I try to avoid added sugar in foods when I'm watching things. But it is very good to get those friendly bacteria and I usually eat a lot of yogurt and keifer for the purpose.
Sarah, I hope that you have a nice weekend.
I'm getting a bit tired of this diet. I just have to focus on the positive and keep on keeping on. I was so tempted last night to stop by and get some takeout Chinese and pig out.
You are doing great my friend!!!!!!
When I was on my particular mostly vegan diet before to lose weight..........I had one day of the week (usually Sunday).....that I would take a break from my diet. I would chose one thing or dish I truly wanted to enjoy and eat it. Monday it was all over again with the diet. I read this somewhere and it doesn't affect sabotage your diet. Don't eat all you can and want that day............just one meal and make it special. I learned to appreciate my food and would usually take a good look at it because I knew another week had to pass by before I could savor it again! :rotfl:
I am off to school in a bit. I studied my head off yesterday and am completely tired. I am no where near halfways to where I need to be...........I plan to take the evening today off of studying and go do my grocery shopping, laundry and cleaning. Tomorrow I will resume my studies. (I can't study well when I have all these things on my back burner....bugs the heck out of me )
Anyhow, the verdict is in.................I am ending my starvation diet today (can I get an Amen!)............here are my results:
Lost 5 lbs. looking forward to a 1 to 2 lb loss per week from now on. My goal date is sometime in April..........
Have a blessed day every one!!!!!

I like it, Jess. I've been drinking about a half-cup to a cup a day for a healthy snack. I bought it at Publix.
