I'm done - certified in PALS for another 2 years! ACLS next month. They both have all sorts of new criteria and it's changed a lot this year. Bummer, needs a lot more studying other than a quick and dirty review. Oh well, good prep for school in a few months!

Off to a picnic lunch and hike with DH!

Have a good day, everyone!!!

That's a relief Blue, I hope you had a nice picknic.

I got out and washed the car, which I rarely do which was a little bit of activity. I did a "Power Yoga" DVD and it nearly killed me, but I'm glad that I did. I'm going to walk the dogs and keep a brisk pace if they allow. :)

I made a pretty good salt-free lentil soup yesterday and also had it for lunch today. Still trying to be good.

You guys are doing great. I've been swamped with work; working ahead because I have family things for the next few work days and busy with school. Please tell me graduation finally comes

I have gone to the gym three times since I've written last.

Blue, hope you had a good hike and picnic. I'm jealous :) Too much snow to make eating outdoors at all appealing. We got a new tent last fall, but it was too late in the year to use it, so I can't wait until it's warmer.

Way off topic here, but I started an IV this weekend in two minutes flat! I felt so competent . . . at least until the next one comes up, LOL.

Tweety, what did you use to flavor your soup?

My local grocery store had "Wolfgang Puck" brand soups on sale for $1.00 a can . . .so I got his "Hearty Lentil". Good in a pinch.

I've seen those too Steph, is the lentil salt-free. I'm boycotting canned soup because of the sodium content. Not that I ate a lot, but as you say, good in a pinch....and vegetarian.

Hiker, I just used onions, green peppers, carrots, (I was missing celery which I usually use too), crushed red pepper, oregano, rosemary, a can of salt-free diced tomatoes, and a vegan low-sodium bouilline (sp?). Very easy. I don't sautee the onions and greenpeppers, which I probably should. I cook the lentils for ten minutes, add everything else and cook for 10 more minutes.

Without the salt, it's extremely healthy and fat-free. I served it over whole wheat pasta and poured some olive oil over it. Protein, complex carbs, and healthy fat (if you add the olive oil), along with antioxidants vit A & C, and fiber. Lentil soup is the perfect dish.

Tweety, do you eat seafood or fish as part of your diet? I once made a really good asian soup with seaweed as a base -- can't remember ingredient, very nutritious. Saves having to use a soup base (NaCl)

Sigh. No picnic, no hike. Someone was a no-show at work and I had to be on call. Fortunately I didn't get called in, but I had to be able to get there within 30 min. if things went bad so I stayed home. Just as well. We had a plumbing leak last Thurs. They had cut a 2 ft x 2 ft square hole in the wall behind the toilet, fixed the leak, patched the hole, textured and primered. I figured I would take a few minutes and paint so all they would have to do this morning would be re-install the toilet. Low and behold I discovered more water. They are here right now tearing all sorts of really big holes in the walls looking for another leak (the first one was a different one, you could see it squirting out of the connection between the valve and the pipe). I can't say as this is my most entertaining day off..... :bluecry1:

On a positive note, I did get on the treadmill for a while yesterday, ate well, and made it to Curves this morning. Even got in a shower and got laundry caught up before they had to turn off the water. I'm going to meet DH for lunch, then go to the local nursing school at noon for a meeting with the soon to graduate nursing students (a recruitment thing...).

Going away next weekend for a couple of days is becoming more appealing by the minute.....

Think I'll go drown my troubles in a cup of tea.

Tweety - congrats on the low BP - WooHoo!!! That is wonderful! I need to start taking mine more often because I haven't done that for a while.

Blue - yikes on your house, that sounds awful! I hope it gets fixed soon. Congrats on the being good though - yeay!

Rain - I've not had that happen to me with the exercise, let me know what you find out.

Steph - those soups sound wonderful, let us know how it tastes. I haven't seen those in any of our stores out here, I wonder if they don't travel this far. If they're good though, let me know and maybe I can have some of my classmates from Pueblo pick up some if they can find them there.

Hiker, congrats on your IV - that is awesome!!!

Hi Adrien, Zoe, everyone! I hope I am not missing anybody, but I'm sure I am as I have a knack for that.

I was really super good yesterday. I had a fresh orange for breakfast, then a salad with salsa on it for lunch, a glass of orange-juice in-between, a meatball in cream of mushroom soup crushed up over a salad for supper and another orange for dessert. Yeay! I feel like I may be back on track . . . again. Hopefully I can stay there this time. :)

I didn't exercise specifically, but our electricity was out because of this stupid ice storm, so I spent most of the day cleaning house with the 'ol broom & dustpan & elbow grease, so hopefully that accounts for something.

Have a happy, healthy day everybody!

Hey Sarah!

Yup, housework does count, especially when done the ol' fashioned way!

Glad to hear you're doing okay! Got power back yet?

Specializes in NICU.

Thanks Blue. Yeppers - they finally got the power back on last night and we were sooooo glad! It was starting to get a might bit nippy in the house as they say 'round these parts. We have a gas oven, so we had the burners going, but that only goes so far. Luckily we were only in full black for a couple of hours before they had us running again. Yeay!

Tweety - 580 mg sodium in 1 serving . . and there are "about" 2 servings in a can. "About" - that is funny to see on a can.

It tastes pretty good but nothing is as good as homemade. My dh and I made a big pot of soup yesterday. We just searched the pantry and tossed things in - Light red kidney beans, pinto beans, navy beans, green beans, corn, tomatoes, onions, green chilis, jalepeno chilis, cilantro, cumin . . . .my dh fried low fat hamburger and added it too. I'm not a big fan of hamburger but he is a man and needs the meat to make it a meal. His blood sugars are really good when he makes this soup - he basically lives on it when he is working in the woods. All the fiber I guess. He said he missed the black beans, which we did not have.

I had some for breakfast . . .;)

Gotta go work out sometime today.
