Gracias . . . . .
Wow guys, the yoga sounds great. I have been really horribly sick the last couple of days. Still am feeling awful actually, but decided (I can't remember why now) to come to work today. My co-workers saw me and retreated to their own offices . . . hmm . . . I must look about how I feel. Oh well, I tried. Think I'll go home in a little bit. On the plus side, I haven't been able to eat much of anything and what I have eaten is a little bit of soup, so I am eating healthy by force - hehe.
Hope y'all have a great weekend.
You're welcome Steph. Keep in touch and let us know if you decide to do yoga and how it goes.
Sarah, sorry you're not feeling well. Everyone I know has been getting sick this season.
I've been very well with the healthy eating. I'm impressed with even myself. My BP today was 125/65!!!!! Finally a good reading that I'm happy with. Now if it stays there, I'll be happy.
Way to go Tweety on getting your BP down!
Sarah, I hope you feel better soon, rest up!
Ok I have a question for you guys. What do you eat before you go work out? I was hungry today before I went to workout, so I ate a little bowl of Cheerios. I had just eaten lunch like 2 hours beforehand, so I figured a bowl of cereal would hold me over until dinner. So I went to my workout and it was totally fine, until the cooldown part ...... I started getting so dizzy and lightheaded. Got some water and just sat on the stretch mat for a bit. I ended up not even doing the stretches that we're supposed to do at the end. Felt ok walking out to the car, but once I got in the car I had to sit there for a bit with the AC hitting my face because I felt like I was going to pass out. I don't know why that happened, it's never happened before. But when I was sitting there in the car I felt like I was STARVING. Has anyone had that happen before? Do I need to eat some sort of protein before I go workout? I don't want to eat a lot before working out, but I don't want to go workout again when I feel hungry either. Any ideas?
Rain, here's an article from the MayoClinic, a site that I trust: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/exercise/HQ00594_D
It definately sounds like you are having some fluctuations in blood glucose. Are you hydrating enough?
I've read a couple of places that if you're trying to lose weight not to eat prior to working out because your body will burn more fat, rather than the meal you just ate. So I usually don't eat prior to working out unless I am really hungry. If I do eat, I'll try to make sure it includes fat and protein like eggs or peanut butter and jelly. The milk in your cereal should have provided some protein for longer glucose control, so maybe some healthy fat like nuts?
Good luck. We're all different and you'll find something that works for you.
Hi Rain!
I have had that happen a few times too. I was always dieting at the time and attributed it to a combo of not enough to eat that day prior to exhertion, and not enough fluids (it was really hot both times). Now I make sure I have something with protein and carbs about an hour before workout so it's not still sitting in my stomach. Being a bit lazy about it all and not wanting to go crazy with the food planning, I just have a EAS or South Beach meal replacement bar. Works for me with enough of everything to keep me going, and fulfills my craving for chocolate at the same time.
Way to go Tweety! Hi to everyone! I've been a BAAAAAADDDDDD girl thie last few days - hormone induced is my excuse! Pizza for lunch yesterday, beer with dinner and donuts at PALS today! I'm really tired, too, working more hours than should be physically possible.
Back to the afternoon session of PALS.....
Later!
Thanks for the information, Tweety. I'll check out that link.
Thanks for the tips, Bluehair ..... I need to try and make sure I eat like an hour before I go, rather than right before, I think that'd help a lot so I'm not so hungry.
I ate right before I went to workout yesterday because I felt really hungry, and I didn't want to feel like that during my workout. But it ended up making me feel bad anyway, so it was just weird. I think you're right .... I wasn't hydrated enough, I need to drink more water before I go, and maybe even during my workout, as I notice I get really thirsty. Before I went to workout this morning I ate a bowl of Cheerios and had a bottle of water ..... and I felt fine all through and after my workout.
I did my weigh in today and I lost 4.5 pounds!! And lost 2.5% body fat. I'm so happy!! :) It was so hard to get out of bed this morning to do my workout, but I did and I feel so much better for it.
We're all doing great, keep it up!!!!!
Blue, you've taken over being bad from me. Stop that! It's easy to get into that kind of rut when you're so busy.
Way to go Rain!!!!!! Sometimes when I'm going to the gym, I just have to force my body and the mind soon follows. Afterwards I'm very happy I worked out.
I've lost 5 lbs myself!!!! I'm only 2.7 pounds away from where I was when I ended last year's diet. However, anyone who has been on this board knows I've been here before. The trick is staying here. But one can't rewrite the past. I'm happy with the present for the moment. :)
