Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
RMBmAZ, I know depression well. It runs in my family too. I was on antidepressants for a year in the mid-80s and had a very major depression at that time that was so bad it physically hurt. Best wishes. I know when I take care of myself physically, my emotions tend to upswing as well.
Adrienne, I use a variety of Asian sauces that are soy sauce based so high sodium. I also like olives and olive pate with is very high sodium. I noticed I used 3 servings of pasta sauce the other day and go a whopping 1500 mg. Salt is in everything, the veggie food I eat tends to be high salt if I eat the veggie burgers, veggie chicken nuggets and stuff.
With my BP hovering in the 140/90's it's time to see if cutting down on salt helps. I got some salt-free beans, some salt free tomato sauce to make my own, and some salt free spices. I had some salt free spice that I used last night instead of soy sauce and it tasted fine. My BP today is 135/83 which is lower than it's been lately.
I hope to do other things like meditation and more exercise and less junk. Baby steps.
((((((((((((Hiker/Zoe)))))))))))))) (((((((((((Everybody))))))))))))))))Thank you so much for your responses. I am picking up my Wellbutrin ($130) and Zoloft ($85). I'm very excited to get back on track with that. Depression runs long and deep on both sides of my family. Why I question why I can't just deal with life, on my own and life "everyone" else, is beyond me. It is in my genes. I haven't been without insurance in 16 years - being so now bring into focus compassion for those who've been and continue to be without it. Shame on our country! I love the adding a piece of fruit/whole grain bread daily. Seems will be easy to do. Just have to "remember" to do it. Again, thank you so much to all of you, on this thread and others. What a giving group of great humans here. So blessed to have found this website. A blessing indeed.
Thank You!

Check out this site, it is a way to apply for free or reduced meds (not just in VA) through companies that sponsor this. Or your psychiatrist's nurse can help you find them, perhaps. The amt you are paying is OBSCENE!! But ...
I am so glad that you decided to get the meds. You may end up being able to go off them, but a sudden stop can lead to disastrous results, some even commit suicide when they do that. DON'T want that to happen!!!

Wow, those recipes look yummy!
Enjoy your nights off!
Hmmmmmmmmmm................thanks Adrienne.
My BP dropped over the last three days from 140/99 to 134/83 to 128/76 today. Woo hoo! I've been eating very well, no junk and lots of fruits and veggies and low sodium. I also am taking danelion leaf, but will only do that temporarily.
Today I'm making chili, with sodium free tomato sauce over brown rice, and a nice salad. :)
Huge Pepsi (regular) drinker here. An addict actually. And, not for the caffiene - as I can drink a 20 oz Pepsi/Mt. Dew and immediately go to sleep with no problem. Have been trying to drink more water (more than 1 bottle a week) lately - I've been doing much better maybe 2-3 bottles a day now.
