Thanks! I hope it's a downward thrend that stays.

I feel like I'm coming down with a little cold again. Yuk. I thought I was immune from being sick a few weeks ago. But I'm going to the gym this morning and working it out. :)

We had so many kids in the ER tonight . . . all with viral syndrome.

I've washed and washed my hands - and I've been living with a 5 year old who has been sick for over a week - hopefully I'm immune.

i don't get a very good workout when i'm sick either. i have pretty much stopped even trying for 2 reasons - 1) i figure i don't need to make other people at the gym sick as i cough/sneeze, etc. all over the gym equipment (they could end up being patients and we are busy enough...) 2) the older i get the more i try to pay attetion to what my body is telling me, like take it easy when i"m sick (or trying to fight off being sick), go to bed when i'm tired instead of staring mindlessly at the tv when i don't even like what is on, etc.

a nice hot bath is usuallly just as productive for me. or a dip in a private (not public) hot tub/spa. i spent one entire winter sick with near pneumonia 'til i figured out i kept getting it at the hot tub at my gym! guess it was growing super flu from all the sickies getting in to feel better! blech!

actually i have had good luck with a really nice hot bowl of french onion soup. with cheese, crouton, the works. there used to be a great restaurant nearby that made it just right. someone told me once there are some natural antiviral properties to onions and garlic. no idea of the truth to that, but the soup combined with a hot soak in the tub and early to bed with a nice book usually (all done at the first sign of scratchy throat) almost always got me past whatever was going around without sucombing.

hmmmm - onion soup. think that needs to go on the menu this week!!!

definately don't go to the gym with a fever. when i'm under the weather i do not get as good a workout in. i try to listen to my body, sometimes when i'm under the weather i need to stay in an rest my body and not stress my immune system. other times i need to strengthen my immune system by continuing to work out, and not use a little fatigue as an excuse for being lazy.

i got a good workout in yesterday and feel 100% better today. i'm glad for that because the last cold i caught lasted 2 weeks.

i weighed in at the gym and it said i lost three pounds from the last time i weighed in. woot!

Congrats Tweety!

I'm staying away from the scale for awhile - I was becoming discouraged since I work out alot and the scale wasn't budging.

I took my ds to ride with his dad yesterday and then headed back home (a little over an hour away) and FORCED myself to go to the gym. I FORCED myself to work out as I usually do - an hour on the elliptical machine and then weight circuit. I'm so glad I did - even though I was going on about 3 hours of sleep.

Had a salad for dinner . . .

Feels like deja vu all over again . . . . we gain, we lose, we gain . . . .

Hi all! I am sorry but I am extremely rushed today, so congrats to all of you who are being good and hugs to all of you who are struggling.

I was really bad yesterday - oops - I had a green chili cheeseburger with onion rings for lunch and then hamburger helper for dinner. Yikes! Not good, not good. On the plus side, it gave me a horrible tummy-ache today, so maybe I won't do that again soon - hehe.

Anyway, have a happy, healthy day y'all - I will try to catch up when I get some down time (if that happens).

don't put toom much faith in the scale -- if you're building muscle it weighs more than the fat you're burning. I've heard to go more by the fit of your clothing to see progress.

Yup! Many years ago when I was going to Weight Watchers for teens (yes, weight management has been a life long issue for me!) they suggested an interesting exercise. Go to the meat counter and ask them to give you 1 pound of fat. They can usually do that since they trim it off of certain cuts of meat. Also get 1 pound of LEAN meat (hamburger does not count...). Check out the difference in volume. It's actually more impressive when you do it with 5 #'s of each, but more problematic later for disposal. 5#'s of fat is a LOT of volume, just harder to notice when it comes off a variety of places.

ps - Congrats, Tweety, on the 3#'s!!!

Way to go Steph. Your schedule is exhausting. That's probably the most unhealthy thing you do is not have a regular pattern of sleeping. But what can you do?

Next time I get on the scale it might show no weight loss. So I'm not getting to excited about the three pounds. It is nice to see though.

I did an hour of yoga to one of my two DVD's and loved it. I haven't had a long yoga session since my financial situation changed and I stopped going to classes. This is the next best thing and I hope to continue doing that. I might splurge and get a couple more. I pumped up the speed on the dogs walk this evening too to make it more aerobic, rather than a slow stroll.
