Sounds delicious, Tweety. I love lentil soup, but mine takes all day to make, so it's good to know a faster versiou :)
Aw, Blue. No hike? Sorry about your plumbing fiasco. It's good you discovered things before they got any worse. Your avi is looking pretty hot . . . and so's the guy with her
Sarah, I'm jealous about your house! I wish mine were clean, but I'm glad our power didn't go out (it did for several nearby neighborhoods; storm here, too) because I had a paper due this morning and I still had to write it last night.
Went to the gym this morning, didn't do cardio because I'm a bit under the weather (mostly tired I think), but I did weights--and I wiped them well after I was finished, of course :)
Adrienne, I do not eat fish or seafood, but I do eat seaweed. In fact I do have some wakame seaweed on hand now. I keep miso soup on hand that has seaweed in it as well, but that does not fit in with the low sodium stuff.
Sarah, I taking it one day at a time, you are back on track. Kudos.
Hi Zoe! I understand about needing to take a break from the internet. I do it from time to time as well.
Good job Hiker, I hope you're not getting sick. Get some rest.
Steph, that soup sounds good. I checked out the Wolfgang Puck's and noticed the high sodium. It's funny they call a can of soup two servings when you're not adding water. That's a 1000 mg per can, so I passed. Going to have to stick to homemade.
Blue, sorry you had to miss you hike. Plumping problems suck.
As for me, I did work out yesterday and 50% ate well, as I decided yesterday I'd eat some good bad stuff. Mac & Cheese, fritoes, ice cream. Back to healthy today. Works for me. Prior to this decision I gained a pound at the gym. I had just weighed 2 days prior. I'm going to stop weighing so often. Too much fluctuation and it's too frustrating.

The Av is endulging in a little V day fantasy to escape from all the plumbing problems, etc. Note the Calgon comment... Water is turned off so we ended up going out to eat last night. I was good & had some bean soup and salad. We have big holes in 2 bathroom walls and a smaller one in the wall between the kitchen and bathroom. They did locate the leak but are having trouble getting it stopped. They have a plan but ran out of time yesterday. No Curve's this morning for me since there is no shower available. Sponge baths can only do so much. I plan on a taking a walk before work, though.
The good news is we put some water aside before it got turned off and the coffee pot works just fine! Mmmmmm, coffee.....
Tweety, I took a three hour nap today--that felt fantastic! I definitely have something, it's moved from my head and throat down to my chest. I figure a few more days, it will work it's way down to my toes and be done, LOL.
I only try to weigh myself when I'm feeling [relatively] skinny; I'm not fooling anybody but myself, but I can live with that. You said you didn't eat too well yesterday, but I think that's how the human body is designed. The diets tell you to only eat so many calories a day, and we eat up to that point because otherwise we're too hungry, but evolutionarily, it makes sense that some days food is more plentiful and you eat more and some days enough food isn't available so you eat less.
Zoe, if you figure out a way to either catch up or avoid procrastination, please let me know! I obviously haven't learned that skill yet. Hopefully your break did you some good.
Blue, congrats on eating well. Too bad your gym doesn't have a shower, but it's good to take a break once in a while. Your house sounds awful. I laughed when you said they figured out the problem, but didn't have time to fix it. I know it's not funny, but we did some remodeling a year ago and that's how they seemed to operate. Except they would usually say that Thursday afternoon and then not be able to come back until Monday or Tuesday. "You don't really need your water/electricity/heater until then, do you, lady?"
I went to the gym this morning, did an hour on the elliptical. The thing is I didn't want to and really struggled for the first 30 minutes, the second half was good, though. I am really proud of myself for sticking it through :)
Steph, the soup sounds wonderful, it was making my mouth water just thinking about it. I loved the idea of putting in chopped jalapenos - I have a horrible infatuation with those little peppers - I love spicy!
Hi Zoe - good to see you!
Hiker - wonderful job on exercising even when you don't feel great. I am horrible about becoming a comlete and total slug when I am sick, so great job!
Tweety - I agree with you about weighing often and getting all frustrated. I do that too. I weigh myself way too much and end up very frustrated and disappointed, so that's not good. I really need to cut it down to once a week or even once every other week.
Blue - thank goodness for coffee! I am so sorry about your house, it is so frustrating when things like that start to go wrong. We had such cold weather (waaay below freezing) and we never get that here that we ended up with some lines close to the exterior on our house bursting this winter. Not fun at all, I can totally relate, except minus the holes in the interior walls. (((HUGS))) I hope it gets fixed soon.
I have been sticking with my being good. A co-worker brought me a valentine caramel heart and I re-gifted it to avoid eating it - yeay! She also baked this huge cake and told everyone she would be hurt if they didn't try it, so I took a 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch bite of it and stopped right there. You know what, that was actually just fine - it tasted great and I maybe got 4 carbs out of the deal, so it was worth it. I haven't had anything else yet, but I'm going to have another salad for snack here in about an hour. Salads seem to work well for me.
On an unrelated note - we are getting snowed on horribly again, it took twice the amount of time (2 hours instead of 1) to get home from school last night and it took me an hour to get to work this morning where it's usually only 20 minutes. Yuck! Someone please stop all this white stuff - we've had enough now!
Ok - enough complaining for me.
Have a great day everybody!
Hi Sarah, hi all!
Welll I made a big pot of American Chop Suey (some call it Goulash) - and put tons of veggies in it to disguise them - so I get one of my favorite comfort foods AND get in some of the veg. I need. Also, it will last for a while, so I won't be running out for fast food (which also means I won't be spending $ I don't have!)
I am in a little bit of a funk, unmotivated ... am getting a few things done here at the house tho that I was SUPPOSED to do last week. Doing a little bit at a time.
Yesterday I took a friend out grocery shopping (she had knee surgery) - and I walked from the groc store to the pharmacy while she shopped. By the time I got back to the groc store I felt great! The sun, the fresh air, moving around ... she treated me to lunch which was not too sinful (LOL)...
O course as with Sarah we are now getting a big snowstorm - so I'm not going to be jogging anytime soon LOL - but I may put something on the CD to dance to; get my blood moving - anyone want to join me? The store is closed today on account of the storm (I bet the places that have FEET of snow are not closed, ARE they???)
LOL Zoe - nope, our little towns are still up and running. It is crazy, I can't figure out why they didn't cancel work, but here I am. Sigh. Oh well - at least it finally quit snowing, now if those dratted snowplows will just get out on my road so I can go home tonight . . . I am tired of winter already - where oh where is summer and sunshine?
Hehe - ok, obviously I should move to a warmer climate, huh?

What kind of work do you do Sarah? I forget. I do remember working as a nurse and being MANDATED to stay and work doubles, on account of other shifts not being able to get in. I also remember sleeping in a johnnie in a hospital bed when I couldn't get OUT! Didn't like it either way (chuckle) ...
As to moving - is there a climate that does not have its downside(s)?
That's ok Zoe - I am doing good to remember my own job title myself, let alone anybody else's. I work for Social Services as an eligibility/case manager in rural southeast Colorado. Fun, fun. It's government, so the commissioners expect us to come - I think even if the highway was actually closed, blocked off and gaited, they would expect us to be here (and I live 21 miles away) - LOL - they would expect us to take a horse or something - haha!
You're right - all climates have their ups and downs. I have always been fond of Maine, but it also gets the snow and the cold. I am thinking AZ sounds nice. My Dad lives out in southern Cali. and I am also jealous of that one - hehe. Don't know how I'd do in earthquakes though, but I can handle head - it's the cold that gets to me. He called me this weekend and told me about the beautiful 80 degree day he was having (aaargh!).
