Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

Just was wondering cuz I don't think I have seen you mention meat dairy etc -

I can identify from "the mode" - altho when I was younger, you would'na believe what I could do. Now I am old enough to complain (and I do, on Tuesdays, for about 4 hrs).

Oh, sorry. I must unconsciously feel guilty about it or something. Hehe. Yeah, we raise cattle, so we have that - it's pretty much a staple out here on the plains, although I am really trying to limit my consumption because I know red meat isn't all that good for you. I am really bad about not getting enough dairy though, I have been keeping yogurt in the fridge at work and that has helped, but I usually don't consume enough of that. Phooey - I need to get a happy-medium going.

ROFL - I like your Tuesday complain - hehe. I usually do a lot better, but I think I just got stressed and that killed my drive for the week. I feel better this morning though, so I am looking at life optimistically today - even if we are supposed to have a blizzard. :D

Now . . . off to my oatmeal, yum!

In the book I'm reading "Healthy at 100", the author researched the longest lived societies on earth, and the top 4 thrive on very little, if any animal flesh or products (but for the Okinawins in Japan that eat fish). Kind of helps to reaffirm my veggism. I think as long as we eat lots of fruits and vegetables, the body stands a chance at health. :)

Good deal Tweety. I used to feel much better when I was a veggie myself - hehe - but then I married a cattle man and that messed it all up. I was a veg. for 7 years when I was in HS. I have been trying to eat more fruits/vegetables and less processed foods/red meats, so hopefully I am on the right track. I just wish I could get my will-power back. Seems like every time I have a good handle on it, something happens and it slips away.

Hi Sarah!

I don't feel guilty about eating red meat at all ;) -- dad is 75 and mom 73 and they are both fairly healthy - altho dad recently dx with bladder cx - we don't know yet to what extent. But I think 75 with quality of life is pretty good and I wouldn't be surprised if he outived me!

A BLIZZARD??? wow! well stay in touch so we don't worry about you, k?

Cool Zoe - good to know. Yeah, the blizzard was fun . . . er . . . something. I got to go home early, we were without electricity for 1/2 the day and then got to sleep in this morning, so it had it's good and bad. They did cancel school though - so I studied instead, that was good. I spent my first few hours at a flu vaccination clinic today and am all excited as that is what I will be doing all next week. Yeay!

Have a great weekend/week/weekend y'all - talk to 'ya in November!!! :)

Sarah, glad to hear survived the blizzard. I turned the air conditioner on this afternoon because it was getting a bit too warm. Gotta love it!

Take care Sarah, see you soon!

Don't anyone forget to put their clocks back Saturday nite, an extra hour of sleep! unless you are an unfortunate one who is on nites that nite :(

It's supposed to get cooler tonight Zoe, so I'll be shivering in the 60's. This is actually the nicest time of year here in Florida. I love it.

It's about 50 here now, was in the 30's overnite - I was so surprised when I got out of work, I was all zipped and double layered, and it was a nice warm breeze, er... I guess more than a breeze, winds up to 50 mph - it sounds cool thru my window lol

Ahhhh yes...stress eating. I do so well until about 3:00 and then it's chocolate and anything I'm not supposed to have. Get home and eat while cooking dinner. Like a good little nurse, I haven't been to the doctor in two years - but I CAN say that I've made appointments (just missed 'em). For once I finally went to the dentist Friday, set up an appointment with the neurologist and another with a cardiac guy for later in the month (missed the first ones I made). I will make these and am trying to get to the point where I actually walk or exercise of some kind. Problem is that I drive 1 1/2 hrs. one way to work everyday. However - we are in the process of purchasing a home just 15 minutes from work and I tell myself that I will exercise after we move 'cause I'll have more "time" (meanwhile the treadmill that is brand new and the nice ball I have for "core" exercise as well as my yoga mat goes untouched). Who am I kidding? I'm just overweight and not doing anything about it, even though I know I should and I'd look and feel so much better if I just dropped 15 pounds (alter ego says: 15? That's not too bad, don't worry about it - ya got a pretty face....). Help please ! I seem to have time for everyone but me :uhoh3: :o .

I can so relate to everything you've said. That's the first step, just getting it out there and breaking through out denial that we are mistreating ourselves.

Just do one positive thing today and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Be kind, forgiving and gentle with your self-talk. It's o.k. to be where you are right here and now. But do be a little firm, just a little in getting up off your butt. I have to give myself a quick kick in the butt almost every day.

Take one day at a time.

Good luck. Keep in touch.
