Healthier Living Support - Part III

Published

Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

No air conditioner today, but it was almost a bit too warm in the late afternoon. But it's in the upper 60's and cool.

I've been good, I went to the gym and worked out today, with 40 minutes of aerobics and ate well.

Good for you! :D

You guys are making me jealous - air conditioning talk and all. It is just past noon and it has made it to all of 36 degrees here - brrr!!! It was 22 when I came in to town this morning - yuck, if I do say so myself.

Sorry guys, can't stay - just a quick lunch break and then back to giving shots - loving it though! I am not afraid to give a shot any more! :D

Have a great week everybody!

Trust me, no A/C HERE! but not as cold as you; 30's at nite, 40's to 50's during the day...

Glad you are getting some good practice with the shots! xoxoxo

It's downright hot here. But that'll change later in the week. I love this time of year.

I was good and ate well. I spent $100 in the health food store today. It amazes me how quickly things add up. But it was 10% off Day. I forgot that the first Wednesday of every month is 10% off day. Saved $11 off the bill.

I went to the gym and worked out pretty good today.

I joined an actual gym about a month ago in order to work out with my dd. She didn't like the idea of "Curves" since it seemed like only old ladies like me worked out there. :gandalf:

So, I've been doing 1/2 hour on the elliptical machine and then all the weight machines and I feel better but I'm still wanting to eat everything in sight. Having a hard time with the diet part.

My dd is loving it - getting stronger. Her pitching coach was impressed with her this last week.

They also have a place for my son to play while I work out, which Curves did not.

It is 17 miles from here . . . . so a major commitment. Usually my dd and I go after she gets home from school but I went early today.

The never-ending battle of the bulge . . . . . ;)

What do you buy there, just supplements or food too? It must be pretty expensive... but 11 bucks, that's a good savings right there... :D

I checked out Curves recently because there is one conveniently located, ahem, in the same complex as the dunkin donuts I go to just about daily! (but usually I skip the donuts!) Anyway - the voice-over to change stations irritated the heck out of me in the twenty minutes I was there for the tour - I could not have stood it on a regular basis!

I keep thinking if I get a machine to have at home I would do better, but I hear people use them for clothes hangers...

BTW I checked out your Medical Ministries, did you ever go? Fabulous - I would love to be able to go! Touched my spirit so much :)

Awesome! There should be a thread (if there isn't one) for people who've done medical ministry (including here in the US). That is just fantastic Steph!

Steph, I know what you mean. That's a start. Sometimes working out jumps your metabolism and you actually need to eat a bit more - quality food that is. Who knows maybe 2008 I can do a medical ministry with you. :)

Zoe, I primarily buy food, but this week I bought a Calcium/Vit D supplement for those dairy-free days. I got nuts, veggies, grains and whatnot. I think what through it over the edge was lunch - about $6.00 and some stuff at the deli - curried lentils, "eggless" salad (tofu), and a huge, and I mean huge black bean burger patty. With the man traveling I'm eating alone a lot and not in the mood to cook, so I figure fresh deli food adds variety, but it also adds $$$$

Tweety, even tho I'm a carnivore (lol) - what you bought sounds YUMMY! Does the eggless salad taste "eggy"? and the black bean burger patty sounds great too. I like black bean/lentil/green pea soups so I imagine I would like it!

I eat alone all the time, except when I invite someone over. Unfortunately that means I get take out a lot (got Chinese food last nite), and/or the frozen dinners: lean cuisine, or not-so-lean cuisine.

I've also had a few of those Kashi frozen dinners recently, have you tried them?
