HCC Applicants for Spring 2010

Published

Hi all, I applied to the nursing program at HCC for spring 2010 and I was wondering if there is anybody who might have done the same thing. At this point I'm extremely anxious trying to find out if I got accepted or how long will it take for them to decide it??? Does anyone know anything???? I appreciate any replies. :uhoh21:

The background paperwork is in the nursing packet that tells you which pre-reqs you need, the appliction form to turn in, etc. All you do is sign it and trun it in with your application. (and of course your money!) It just gives permission for HCC to do a background check

i went through hcc continuing ed. for the cpr class

http://www.hcccontinuinged.com/

other places you can get cpr cards:

$25 www.peopleware.net/0364 tampa general hospital (pick student option)

$38 [color=#3b5998]http://www.sjbhealth.org/documents/calendarofevents4q_09.pdf st. josephs (make sure its bls cpr)

$27 i heard learey tech had it, but dont have any info on it.

I got plant city, my first choice.

I got my CPR through the YMCA. I think it costs about $25.00.

15 days guys till orientation!!!

I am doing my CPR class through Top Notch Training and Treatment, LLC. It's $35 but there is a $5 coupon you can apply right away making it $30. You can register online through their website.

Has anyone received any information about the background check via Hawkmail? Please share the info. Thanks.

As I remember the background check was a part of the application. Why they'd mention it again, I don't know. Maybe it's because come people didn't pay the fee or fill out the form the first time through?

Yes, I remember that. The background check is a part of the nursing application before we submitted to the Health Sciences Admission. However, on the acceptance letter stated that

"Please check your Hawk Mail Account periodically for information on how to complete the required background check. You will be responsible for the cost of this background check. Please be aware that failure to complete the background check prior to the schedule orientation will result in forfeiture of your seat in the program"

So, I was just wondering if anyone has received an email about the background check, or am I missing something in Hawk Mail? I just need to get all the paperworks done prior the next week Orientation. Please assist. Thanks.

Has anyone done their physical yet or taken shots or gotten titers? When is this info due? Who here is going to be attending Dale Mabry evening program.

nope i keep checking. not sure how they expect us to get everything done and verified by the orientation date. It takes Tallahassee 3 to 6 weeks to process background checks. though i have had it done faster. i always send it priority mail and include a priority mail stamped envelope for them to send it back to me.

You don't need to do anything for the background check. The form should have been signed by you and turned in with your app. HCC does the rest. As far as the physical. During orientation you will be given a form for the doctor to complete. It will be due by the start date of your class. There are more things but they explain everything during orientation. Try and chill now, cause when class starts the true chaos begins! If you have a copy of Perry and Potter...READ..first test was Chpt 1-5, 32-35, 37, 40 , 47, and 48. Kee's med calc book test covered chpt 1-8. This was the way fall 09 was set up anyway

Good luck

Hi! I am in the fall NP1 class, here are my 2 cents :)

The best thing I did was get ahead with the med calculations...everyone else was stressing over learning the calculation, and all I had to study was the medication chapter in Potter and Perry. I ended up doing great on that test where most of the class was retaking it. And to be honest...it has gotten a LOT harder since, so it was great that I started off on a good note :)

Definately get the Kee book and do the first eight chapters...you'll be ahead.
