Hi all, I applied to the nursing program at HCC for spring 2010 and I was wondering if there is anybody who might have done the same thing. At this point I'm extremely anxious trying to find out if I got accepted or how long will it take for them to decide it??? Does anyone know anything???? I appreciate any replies. :uhoh21:
I started to read the first couple chapters of Potter & Perry and I have to say that watching paint dry is more exciting. How did you NP2 and NP3 students retain anything to do well in the tests? Did you all have to read each chapter 2 or 3 times or did you have summary notes?
Also, did you guys have to purchase the pysych book and did the optional RNNotes, AssessNOtes, LabNotes, MedSurge notes help you?
I read chapter 1 of Potter/Perry and I found it to be pretty boring also. I'm planning on reading the first 13 chapters by January. I too hope there is a study guide/outline, to help me retain this stuff.
I heard through the grapevine (NP2 & NP3 students) not to buy the kit, as we wont be using all of those books. Yet, I dont want to miss out by not having all the books... but then again, I doubt I'll have time to actually read all the books included. So we'll see... any input & advice is appreciated.
Yes I know what you mean about Southshore not having all the technology. I was there the very first semester that it opened (fall 2008) and they were lacking so many of the things that we needed for Microbiology and A&P. It is still a great campus and you can tell the administration really cares about the students. I love how clean and new everything is compared to the other campuses. Southshore also has a great SGA, it seems like every other week they provide fun activities along with free lunch. I really love this campus.

Hi! I am a first semseter student on the DM campus. Congrats on you guys that got in :)
As for attendance, you don't have to attend class, but my Professor gives extra points here and there in class and if you are absent, you don't get them. And believe me, you want them for your tests! As for clinical, you aren't allowed to miss any. If you have to, and know ahead of time, it is likely you can work something out to make it up. You may have to pay to do so, however...I think it's about $70. For the fall semester they waived the fee due to the swine flu (they didn't want people coming to clinical sick to avoid paying). I don't know what they'll do for the spring.
Hope that helps...I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have!
