I'm having the same problem in NJ and told the same thing.
I have put my application in for over 20 positions and went there personally. No reponses. I did have one interview on Friday, they told me they would let me know in a week, meanwhile the search is still on. Check out this site www.aftercollege.com
they are hiring New Grad nurses in NY for the schools on www.craigslist.com Job section NY.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. How are you applying? Are you applying online, in person, etc? Do you follow up with the application? I would also have someone review your resume and/or cover letter as well. Good luck!

I DO ALL
I APPLY IN PERSON, FAX RESUME, CALL AND GET THE RUN AROUND.
MAYBE THERES TOO MUCH COMPETITION IN BROOKLYN.
I MAY HAVE TO SEARCH FAR OUT
Do you have your license yet or is it coming in the mail? I hear that some hospitals want you to have your license. Also, what do you mean by run around? What exactly do they say? I'm only asking because the more info you give us, the better someone may be able to help you.

Did you check your letter and resume for spelling and grammar errors? I notice that you are capitalizing every word in your sentences. If I were sifting through many cover letters and resumes in a day, I'd be filtering out those that had glaring errors.
A big part of nursing is clear and concise communication, especially written, as evidenced by the mountain of paperwork we do during a shift. Your resume and cover letter is your first impression. Make sure it's perfect, then follow up with a phone call to the HR department. Most hospitals have nurse recruitment departments and are looking for new grads, especially in med/surg areas.
Good luck!
