I really want to be a nurse, and when I see people in scrubs I assume they are nurses (but this is a stupid thing to do on my part) and I wave at them or say "thanks for helping people" or "we need more people like you.".
Has anyone said anything to you? If so, what?
Dirty, just dirtyI knew this one guy who would wear his scrubs to bed!!! then get up and not shower and wear the same set up again- but only two in a row according to him...ewww
....
I can tell there are more than just that one nurse that wears his outfits twice...it is gross and not to mention you have to feel just dirty!
That's just foul.
I've worn scrubs after class....things like grocery shopping right after. I wasn't doing anything gruesome anyway haha
I did have someone ask if I was a nurse, and I told him I was a student. And he thanked me! It was nice....but kind of weird. I didn't know what to say, other than "thank you....?" but I felt weird taking a compliment for something so....strange? haha
There have been 2 occasions so far, both times I was a new STNA and working part time from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Both times, I really needed to get milk before coming home. I had a toddler who needed it for breakfast. Both times, I felt so gross! All I wanted was to get home and get out of those gross scrubs that I'd worn through all my pm care, bed baths, toileting barely ambulatory residents, not to mention the majority of Cts were in depends...
I have an at home set. It is sooo hard for me to find pants that are long enought and fit right and the scrubs fit like a glove so I got a set for home like on the weekends and stuff not for going out. And as for work scrubs I would prefer to put them in a biohasard bag and burn then every day but I don't have 30 to 50 dollars to get a new set. So as soon as i get home it is the washer for the scrubs and a shower for me. I have 2 small kids and I don't want MRSA or something I have on my uniform getting to my children.
When I get off work, I will go to the grocery store or whatever in my scrubs. But I have a clean job.
Don't assume someone in scrubs is a nurse. Around here, there is a huge variety of people who wear them: nurses, CNA's, med techs, veterinary employees, child care workers, dental workers, cleaning ladies, motel employees, laundry workers, etc.
i don't usually wear scrubs after work, but i may wear a CLEAN scrub top over jeans to school, especially on days when it's "dress down day" at work so i don't have to go home and change before work :)
lol I've gotten so used to wearing clean scrub tops over jeans to nursing school. That I still throw such things on when I'm running errands. To me scrub tops are comfy with some good jeans. As far my scrubs that I wear to work, I usually walk through the door and toss them in the dirty clothes. My shoes stay at the door, and I hop in the shower.

I do get groceries or get gas, but that is it...I take off the scrubs in the garage and that is that...
