Have you ever started an IV on yourself?

I felt my IV skills have been getting a little rusty after having not done one in quite some time so tonight I started one on myself for the refresher course. Anyone else do this? I didn't actually infuse anything, just did the stick for the practice. I found out it's much easier to do your own than someone elses. Okay, I'm weird, what can I say???:D

Never done it to myself but let nursing students practice on me a couple of times. Have done BS checks on myself before a few times.

No, have not done it to myself, but I have the proverbial ropes for veins in my hands, forearms, and AC. I have been used as practice by nursing students and fellow nurses who thought their skills were rusty A LOT.

You have way too much free time!!!!

Seriously....that takes alot of guts to do on yourself.

UGH! My fear of needles is second only to the bee thing!

no, i haven't.

No, but I give myself IM injections every month. Just don't psych yourself out and do it fast. Needle hurts more if you ease it in.

Yep, several times

Duckie hat off to you, I don't have the courage to set up an IV on myself, I gave you all the credit girl. I have given myself injections in the thighs and do my Blood sugars all the time for regular checks. I really dont like giving myself injections, but I have only done it on two occassions.

Maybe the best person to practice on is yourself as you have done.

Continue your courage.

No, I'm not that coordinated. I have a hard time poking my finger with a lancet when I get "signed off" on the accucheck machine at work!

Needles-----tis better to give than receive.

I run from the wrong end of a needle!! Don't like to be on the receiving end at all!!

Never on myself, but my husband (being the great guy he is) let me practice on him when I was in school. He has alot of faith in me!!
