Also sent an email to ajcjobs website. It was completely irresponsible for them to print that article on thier website.

These people need to be arrested and jailed! I am working 16 hour doubles as a CNA on weekends and going into substantial debt to become a Registered Nurse. This is maddening! :angryfire To think that they call themselves nurses. I plan to write an angry letter or two. Six months, no pre-reqs, and you get to call yourself a nurse.

I know it's OT, but this ABG thing is fascinating - here only doctors take gases (unless it's from an art line). I'm staggered at the idea of phlebotimists etc being able to take them!

RNs and RTs can draw them where I am (I've never seen a doc draw one) - but a phlebotomist? uhm...NO

I am a phlebotomist where I live and RT's are responsible for ABG's in my hospital, but I do know that in one hospital in the area that phlebotomist do draw but they must go through extensive traning. I have never seen a doc do it either.

We don't have respiratory therapists (that is what RTs are, right?) in Australia, at least not like you do, so it's RMOs all the way!

PS Apologies to nursingangel for hijacking your thread :)
