Has anyone taking AP I and AP II in same semester

Published

I need to take AP I & AP II at the same time so I can get into the nursing program the following semester. Has anyone done this and how hard was it?

Thanks,

Jen

I would think it'd be hard to take them at the same time. Can you take A&P II in the summer?

Heyy do not take them at the same time!!!! you cant get through a&p 2 without knowing all of a&p 1. there is just so much information learned there i know way to do both in one semester.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping to do them in the same semester but I will probably go summer. The only problem is I will be done with pre-reqs in the summer and won't be allowed to start the nursing program till the spring because of the cut off for applying for the nursing program. I had hoped to not have a semester off.

Thanks,

Jen

Hey it's possible...I just did it this past fall along with botany and pulled As and Bs. All this while applying to NS. And I got in and will be starting in May so don't shortchange yourself. If you want it bad enough you won't allow yourself to not do your best. And as far as that building on stuff you get from A&P I, I saw that happen maybe once and when it does you use the same book so just look it up. Anywho...good luck to you in whatever decision you decide to make :)

I would think that a school wouldn't let you take them at the same time. Usually 101 is a prereq for 102. That's how it is at my school.

same here. not a possibility in my school.

A&P I is a prereq for A&P II so, in my state, this is impossible.

My advice, give yourself a chance to retain some learning. 2 years from now, all will seem like a blur.

You want to be good at what you do, right?

I would recommend not doing that. A&P II builds on important concepts learned in A&P I. You will not fully understand the concepts in A&P II if you take both at the same time. A&P I is a pre-req for A&P II at my school also, so that sounds funny when I hear that is an option somewhere else. :D

Hi Jen

I am a student at Valencia in Orlando, Fl. Here we can take A&P 1 and 2 in what is called a minimester. That means the first two months of the semester is 1 and the 2nd two months is 2. It would have been awseome, because I had an outstanding professor. BUT I was also taking Micro as well as two other classes online. I was told NOT to do this to myself by my advisor. But I have pulled all really good grades and I figured I could do it with alot of effort on my part.

What I didn't take into consideration was that life would still be happening outside my bubble and things would come up. For me we moved to a new home and both of my children and fiance got super sick.....for close to a month! I decided after I recieved a high C in A&P 1 that my GPA and my SANITY could suffer no longer. I decided to take A&P 2 during this Summer Semester instead. I felt a huge weight off of my shoulders! The funny thing is I figured I would do awesome in A&P, while I would have trouble with Micro. Well I have an A in Micro still......whew!

My advice is this, I think we all just want to get into the program so quick obviously, we need to work. Don't burn yourself out or let your grades suffer before you even get in the Program. You want to make sure you leave yourself enough space and time when other things come up. I am actually pleased I have an extra semester, because I am going to take some classes towards my AA degree so I can get into UCF once I have my liscense. US government and Spanish will serve to keep me loving my science classes, at least that is the plan!

Good luck to all of you guys out there! This is my first comment on this board and I am looking forward to learning alot from this website!:nuke:

This is a really good point too. I am scared I didn't retain as much as I could have because it really was a blur!

At my school taking A&P 1 & 2 at the same time requires permission of the instructor and most won't allow it. In my A&P 2 class there was a girl that was doing it though. She said it was insanely hard but she didn't want to have to wait a year to get into nsg school. She ended up passing both classes with good grades so it's possible. I don't think I could do it though, my head would explode! Btw she did not work or have children.
