Has anyone heard back from North Seattle CC's Fall 2011 lpn admissions?

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has applied to North Seattle CC's Fall 2011 lpn program and if they have heard anything back from the admissions committee. I am getting anxious about hearing from them :uhoh3:

Thank you

I might as well throw my 2 cents in. I have a 3.875 gpa and scored 92.59 on the Hesi. I only scored an 86 on the reading part which really lowered my over all score. I feel pretty good about getting in but who knows...It has gotten so competetive as of late. I was asking an employee in the nursing office what my chances were, and he said "well your scores aren't BAD but it is hard to say." I'm thinking you know how hard I had to work for those scores! WOW. Only one more week and we will know :uhoh3: Good luck everyone!!

Hey-

DO you know if you got in yet? Your scores are close but a little better than mine.

THanks!

hi , I was just wondering if the GPA just include the prerequisites ?(BIOL241,242, PSY200 , ENG101) ? cause my other course are pretty low.... can any one help me answer this one?

Yup, just the 4 classes.

I work at Swedish and there are so many nurses who have been nurses for less than 5 years and they are shocked when I tell them my gpa and that I still can't get in. Most of the nurses had B averages. I wish I would of done this 5 years ago. There is one nurse who got in with a 3.0 and she has been a nurse for 3 years now.

wow!! crazy to hear...we are busting ass!

What are your grades/GPA? Have you taken HESI?

4.0 GPA and 95% HESI score.

I bet you got in. Did you hear back yet??

Do you have any tips for the HESI? I took and got 91.9, best in Math and Reading, lowest (88%) in A&P ..not sure how to study differently this time around!! Any advice would be great :)

Good luck!

Chelsea, they emailed you already? For the LPN program? I haven't gotten an email yet. Maybe they've emailed the people who didn't get in but not the people who did get in?

To find the "total score" I think you just do what I did earlier except you double it. I guess the math is simplier that way, come to think of it. So just add your hesi score to your GPAx25. Touche and I should have a 195 so we got in unless I screwed up the application or something.

As for study tips, I just bought as many guides as I could find and studied as much as I could. My favorite guide was called "Hesi A2 secrets" by Mometrix. Google that, and you'll find it's downloadable somewhere. It's fairly short. It has a practice test that should be usefull. I think you can find other practice tests somewhere too. Definitely focus on the the A/P. I was surprised at how many A/P questions I new just from studying "A/P for Dummies." A/P for Dummies was OK as a review, but some parts were a little too "dumbed-down" . . . I guess I should have expected that.

On a side note, TCC posted their lottery today. Out of 302 people my name was picked dead last. Ha! That sounds like my luck.

I used the A&P Cliff Notes book - purchased it at the UW bookstore. It was a good size to study - I read it cover to cover in a couple of days and it really helped refresh my A&P.

I also used the Elsevier HESI review book. It helped give me an idea how deep they were going to go on subjects, and that I should definitely know my glands/hormones!

I haven't heard back yet, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'm OK points-wise, I just hope I didn't mess up anything on my application.

I'm wondering about my friend's application. I don't think she's heard anything either (we agreed to text each other as soon as we hear anything). Her GPA is 3.975 and HESI is 90%. This brings her score to 189.375, but I don't know what her complete HESI score is (after the decimal point). Don't know if NSCC uses the complete score, or just the rounded score. She either squeaked in, or is on the alternate list. Now I have to start crossing my toes too!

I have not heard back yet either. I do know that they count everything past the decimal so every little bit helps! Hmmm.....wonder why we haven't heard back yet.

let me make a correction, my friend :)

my gpa is 3.975 and HESI 90.63%, which gives a 190.005 score.....

I have to agree with what people have said about the English section; some questions were ridiculously easy and some just F'ed up

and btw, what was with all those questions in Human A&P about eyes and ears...the only chapter that NSCC did not teach in class?????

I just called the office and they said they emailed the "no's" yesterday and they should send out the rest by the end of this week. From Chel-sea's response the lowest score was 189.75 and I am at a 189.465.....any chance you read that low score wrong Chel_sea:confused: Well I guess I will be an alternate. Congrats to all of you that have "unofficialy" made it!!! :smiley_aa

Chelsea to figure out your score you divide your gpa by 4 and ad that # to your hesi score. You would be at 186.00. Keep in mind that they use te numbers after the decimal so it might even be higher. Do you know your exact score?

my daughter heard back today and didnt make it,,She had 3.7 gpa and 91 on the HESI.

This is the third time that she applied and hasnt made it.

The whole thing is kind of a drag. I mean there's not really a difference between a 3.7 student and a 4.0 student, in my opinion. And the test? You only need to miss a couple questions on each section to get a crumby score. I think everybody gets the 85% of questions that are stupidly easy and then guesses on the 15% that are stupidly hard. I feel like I could take the test one day and get a 95% and take it again and get an 85%. It just depends on how well you guess on those hard ones. I mean, I'm not worried about it; I'm pretty sure I got in. But I feel for those that didn't.

I'm no longer stressing about getting in . . . now I'm stressing about how I'm going to find a job after I graduate!
