Has anyone heard back from North Seattle CC's Fall 2011 lpn admissions?

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has applied to North Seattle CC's Fall 2011 lpn program and if they have heard anything back from the admissions committee. I am getting anxious about hearing from them :uhoh3:

Thank you

Reading comprehension is usually easy for me, but there were several questions that were really ambiguous, that could be interpreted multiple ways.

The Hesi was weird for me. I felt like all the questions I got right were ridiculously easy and all the questions I got wrong were ridiculously hard. But I don't think 95% is the average. I've heard that the national average for the Hesi is pretty low.

I have a 4.0 in the four or five classes that count for NSCC. My GPA for all the classes I've taken is a bit lower than that, but I was lucky in that the classes that count are the ones I did really well in.

Anyway, they said they'd send out acceptance emails by the middle of August, so I'm pretty sure we'll here from them in the next week. Just a few more days and we'll have our answer.

The HESI average for the group I tested with was 87% and the group my friend tested with a week later was 86%.

I agree, the HESI was an odd/screwy test. The reading comprehension section was poorly designed - it was my worst score (90%), and I felt like the ones I got wrong were the ones that I gave the best answer and not the answer they were looking for. Even as I answered the questions, I knew I would get them wrong, but I was damned if I was going to give an incorrect answer.

Touche Turtle is a Hanna-Barbera cartoon, featuring a musketeer turtle and his sidekick Dum-Dum the sheepdog. It's a nickname my uncle gave me around 40 years ago. It's stuck ever since. My folks even named their sailboat after me - "Touche."

So, once we find out if/when we get in, do you want to exchange names? I didn't apply to any other schools, so if I get in, I'll be attending North.

Toucheturtle, is North Seattle your first pick then, since you didn't apply to any other schools?

Capp, have you applied to other schools? If I don't get into North Seattle this fall, I will also apply for BCC

North is the first school that I was able to complete pre-reqs for, and is closest to where I live (Windermere). Right now I'm a stay-at-home mom with two young kids, so I didn't have time to complete pre-reqs and do the volunteer hours that I would have needed to apply to Shoreline (probably my first pick of schools).

I would have loved to have attended BCC, but with young kids, I didn't want to go to school across the lake, in case there was an emergency.

In speaking with nurse/doc friends, it doesn't seem to matter where you go, as long as you pass the licensing exam. My plan is to complete my RN, and then directly continue on to the UW Bothell RN to BSN program.

Yeah, that totally makes sense for you then Toucheturtle to apply to North Seattle. Well, I really hope you guys get in! But by the looks of it I don't think you guys should be worried with your high GPA and test scores :)

Btw, I my lowest score on the HESI was also on the reading comprehension. I got a 92 on that one :(

I have been reading your post and just to let you guys know I have a 3.7 gpa and only got a 86 on the hesi. I am so upset with myself because I went to fast through the test and finished in an hour and didn't study. I know I won't be getting accepted in the fall but I plan to actually get the study guide and teach myself some math and hopefully get a 95 on the hesi like you guys. I think everyone who got a 95% is going to get in!

The only other school I applied to was Tacoma Community College, which has 300 applicants and uses a lottery system. So I think I have about a 10% chance of having my name drawn there. Otherwise, I'm going to North as well.

Yeah, we should exchange names when we get in. I'm pretty sure we will get in. If not than it's just crazy difficult.

I think it's funny that we are stressing so much and putting so much effort into getting into a community college.

It's crazy how much angst I've gone through! I've got a BS degree, and I don't remember being this worried about getting into school back then!

I might as well throw my 2 cents in. I have a 3.875 gpa and scored 92.59 on the Hesi. I only scored an 86 on the reading part which really lowered my over all score. I feel pretty good about getting in but who knows...It has gotten so competetive as of late. I was asking an employee in the nursing office what my chances were, and he said "well your scores aren't BAD but it is hard to say." I'm thinking you know how hard I had to work for those scores! WOW. Only one more week and we will know :uhoh3: Good luck everyone!!

I work at Swedish and there are so many nurses who have been nurses for less than 5 years and they are shocked when I tell them my gpa and that I still can't get in. Most of the nurses had B averages. I wish I would of done this 5 years ago. There is one nurse who got in with a 3.0 and she has been a nurse for 3 years now.

hi , I was just wondering if the GPA just include the prerequisites ?(BIOL241,242, PSY200 , ENG101) ? cause my other course are pretty low.... can any one help me answer this one?

I applied at NSCC for LPN and was denied. I have a 3.8 and 91% on HESI. I am reapplying for Winter and hopefully getting in then. 190 people applied this fall and 32 were accepted.

Does anyone know how to calculate total points? Because they add up GPA and HESI score.. For example in the email I got they said, "The highest total score was 197.46 and the lowest was

189.85."

I"m also interested in a HEIS A2 study guide! Is anyone into this idea? I would like to meet in Kenmore/Kirkland/Lake forest park/North seattle area once or twice a week. I retake the test in mid September.

Thanks!

Chelsea
