Has anyone gotten into nursing school with a low gpa?

I really goofed in school when I first started out and the community college here wont let students retake classes. So I have a couple of c's in my prereq's for nursing school. I was just wondering if somone knew of anyone that got in a nursing program at a community college with a gpa of 3.0 or below. Right now I have a 3.0 just in case you wanted to know. Thanks

WOW if forgot all about this thread until now. I started this thread like 2 years ago and Im back to say it is possible. I finally got in both a LPN program and RN. I chose the RN program. My school is Santa Fe community college in Gainesville fl. Its based on points my points went up this year because I retook my entrance exam and got higher scores and I got in. So it is possible. Even though it did take me two years, it was a loooong road but oh so worth the wait. Keep at it guys and don't let anyone tell u can't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got into my top choice with a 3.4 (thats low for my school)

i havent gotten to the core of my prereqs yet (going to start taking them after i finish my nonscience degree) but to say the least...my GPA isnt up to par with some. but thanks to this thread, i feel some hope haha...

Try Texas A&M International University. I have a 2.71 gpa (65+ credits) I think this school is a GEM! It's a new university (about 30 years old), their BSN nursing progam does NOT have much competition (my application period had like 120 applicants for 80 spots, Spring and summer entry). They have never had a wait list, I was told. The people are EXTREMELY nice (I mean like an overdose on happy pills kind of nice) And the NCLEX pass rates are amazing! And They give EVERYBODY a chance to succeed. (even if your GPA is not so stellar)

They don't accept you JUST based on GPA, they select their people based on the top 60 HESI test scores. But you DO have to have @ least a 2.5 (in the sciences and also in overall)

Yes. I got into my college with a 2.97 high school GPA. My program is direct entry, so as long as I get at least a C in the prereqs, I'm in (they do conditional acceptance).

At my community college you just have to pass the HESI and a background check to get on the waiting list. I don't think GPA has anything to do with it.

I've made all A's except 2 C's and 1 B over 30 years ago (3.5GPA). Made top 1% in the Nation on NET test. And I still may not get in unless I suck on the corns of the Admin's feet :no:
