So I could not complete the program- I needed a 74.5 I am looking into the Excelsior college online program because I would really hate to get this far and quit. Has anyone had any experience with Excelsior college? Any info would help I have already borrowed $14,000 and still do not have my RN Just want to make sure it's not a scam....Thanks Tonya

It's really not a scam. There are many of us here who have received ASNs from EC. I was very happy with their program, myself.

Yes, I enrolled in October 2007 and finished September 2008. I passed my RN boards last month and now work in a hospital.
It is not a scam.
Best wishes to you.

I'm an EC grad, too! Tonya, just make sure that EC is recognized in your state. Some state BONs have issues with EC because it lacks clinical hours concurrent with theory.

First, Thanks to everyone writing on this site.
I am a chiro in Florida who has been waiting too long to make my career change into nursing. I am grateful for those who have blogged comments about EC. This seems to be my only way to fulfill my dream at this point.
If anyone can tell me more about their experiences I would greatly appreciate. All advice good and bad is welcome.
Thanks for the help - truly.

I am an EC graduate that graduated Feb 20 and just took the NCLEX RN. It took me a year to complete it start to finish. I passed the CPNE with no repeats. It is a validation program that does not teach but rather allow you to test out of 8 nursing exams and the CPNE. It is a very ligitamate program. Make sure EC is accepted in your home state or any others states that you plan to move to in the future. I would say that is the only negative about the program. I suggest that you register at Excelsior.edu and go to the EPN community boards and see the many people who are doing EC and veiw their CPNE journals.
Hi Tonyacup
When are you planning to enroll in EC? If you want, contact me and we can chat about it. It's always good to share especially when two newbies to EC are checking all things out.

Here is a good question. Since a few states have issues with EC grads, would their BON have an issue if an EC grad obtains a BSN for another online university and then applies to that state? HMMMM
