I was wondering if anyone who on a waiting list has been accepted into a nursing program. If so, did you know your ranking on the wait list? I'm just trying to figure out my chances of getting in.

Thanks,

Tiff

I was accepted off my schools waiting list just 2 weeks ago. I was # 3 of 20 alternates. I will be starting Aug 25th.

It is possible, keep your head up.

In March I received my "neither yes nor no" letter....in other words, wait :uhoh3:. Despair set in for a moment but then my faith returned. I registered to take my last 2 pre-reqs in summer school anyway when I could have just put one of them off until Fall & accepted that I might not come off the wait list. Just one month after receiving the wait list letter, I was offered a spot to start nursing school in the Fall. I am glad that I registered to take those last 2 pre-reqs in summer school since they have to be completed w/a "C" or better before I start my nursing program in the Fall. No matter what, just don't give up or give in. Remain hopeful because you never know what might happen. I wish you the best of faith, luck, & hope!

My friend was 17th on the waitlist and they took the first 19 people. She didn't think she would get in, being so far down the list. Apparently, quite a few people couldn't pass the TEAS test and that was the reason she was able to start.

The thing with me is the fact that you have to past the TEAS test to even be considered for admission into the program so everyone on the alternate list has passed the TEAS test. Now I'm waiting for those who are accepted to say whether or not they're going to attend that school next semester.

I'm #10 out of only God know's how many.

I think it should be that way! It seems silly to waste everyone's time by taking the test after.

Good luck to you! Hopefully, at least 10 other people will have a change of plans or get into different school ;)

I was on a waitlist for 3 years before I was accepted. My school well for now, does a WL everyone who applies gets a number and waits their turn. I applied March of 06, the adviser told me she would estimate off my number that I would get in Fall of 09 Well low and behold in Feb. I got my acceptance letter for Fall of this year. So by august it would have 3.5 years I waited.

Now the WL is around 2 years but my school plans on turning it more competitive in the next 2 years

Now that's just ridiculous...wait list for years? Craziness!!! The schools here wait list you per semester and if you're not accepted by the time the classes start, you have to reapply. I'm not sure how long I'll be waiting for. I don't even know when the cut off is to be selected from the alternate list...

When I applied the wait was 3- 3.5 years, now it's 2-2.5 years.

It actually ended up working out perfect for me so I can't complain, but had I not needed to wait a year to get resident status and than ended up having a baby and medical problems I would have not been impressed. But now my daughter is 2, I am very healed from my hysterectomy, I am officially a resident (for a couple years now) and I have all classes for my degree taken that I was allowed to take. The only classes I will have to take during my NS program are strictly the nursing classes that you can't take early.

I was going to commute to WY (about 45 mins away) to do their nursing program, but by the time I found out about that option I only had a semester and a summer to wait until my turn and my college is 7 mins away so I opted to wait.

DON'T GIVE UP!!! I didn't get accepted at first, but then low and behold I got a call on April 30th offering me a spot for the Fall '09 class. I of course took it!!! My school doesn't tell you that you're on the wait list so I really didn't think I would get in this year. Just keep the faith and your head held up high!

I am happy to report that I've been accepted for this upcoming Fall semester...Praise Jesus!!!

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words.

Good luck to each of you.

HANG IN THERE!

I was accepted off the waitlist today- the waitlist had 50 people on it but they never did tell me my ranking. I think they do it a little differently. Anyway, I know it is frustrating, discouraging, and annoying, but it IS possible, so keep your head up!
