Indeed, Happy Australia Day to all my Aussie friends on Allnurses.com!!!
Thank you, Don.
Very thoughtful of you to post kind wishes.
A rather disappointing lack of response from my fellow Aussie's on our national day. :stone
I'll have to assume they're all too busy celebrating and enjoying themselves to be bothered posting here! :smiley_aa:D
Myself, I've just returned home from the beach.
Was great to see all the Aussie flags being flown from cars, houses, flagpoles etc.
Lot's of people on the beach with Aussie flag style beach towels.
People wearing hats, scarves, shirts, face stickers, all with the Aussie flag.
FABULOUS to see!
Families having BBQ's, playing beach cricket, swimming, making sandcastles, enjoying picnic tea on the beach. Weather delightful. A perfect day to celebrate our special day.
GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA!

Grace,
Happy Australia Day to you and all other Aussies.
I have not long dragged my tail out of bed and realized it is Australia Day.
Aussie Aussie Aussie.....
I shall have my own celebration here.
I had a message from my bro wishing me a Happy Aussie Day.
I cried then smiled.
I come from the land down under.... LOL

I, too, wish all the Australian nurses a Happy Australia Day!
I know some of you are working on this holiday, but hope you all have a great day and are able to enjoy the day.
You and your country and have many friends in the world ... and many reasons to celebrate.
What are some of your traditional activities on this holiday?

IIg, this link will explain all about Australia Day and the various activities..........

In my state a parade is held followed up by a big party/picnic in the centre of the city on the riverbank.
People who hold their own private celebrations do things such as picnic's, go to the beach, have BBQ's, pretty much everything and anything to come together as families and friend's and spend time together celebrating being Australian.

Sorry I'm late to the party. Celebrated last night with an Aussie friend and his family! I'm afraid it was too cold for a BBQ here, but there was Australian beer and Tim-Tams. It was very fun for this USA girl! Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!

Eh, Grace. I remembered Australia Day, you wouldn't let us forget it ROFL. I was just on a different thread. I even gave a lecture remember and bored everyone to tears...
But seriously, despite our problems, I really would rather live here than anywhere else. If you have ever been overseas for a reasonable length of time, you get so homesick. I always had this fear of never getting to see home again...and it was only for 6 months!
