GWU Accelerated BSN Fall 2018

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread about GW's application process for Fall 2018. The deadline is Oct. 15th and was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes to get a response. I unfortunately, haven't finished all my pre reqs but will have all of them done by the end of spring semester. I am currently taking micro and dev. psych. Taking stats in the spring. I'm just nervous about not having them all completed. I do have a 4.0 in the ones that are done. Anyone else in the same boat?

If you applied by the Jan deadline your decision should be out by the end of the week. I know they extended the deadline to March 1st so if you applied recently you still have to wait 4-6 weeks.

I submitted an application before the January 15 deadline and I didn't receive an email but I did check the portal today and it said that I had been accepted. When I called earlier this month they said decisions would be out by the end of the month. So if people submitted by the January 15 deadline your decision should be in by today or at least by the end of the week. Good luck to everyone still applying and congrats to those that have already gotten in.

Got in!!! Does anyone know anything about their financial aid?

Congrats! I got in too for both Summer and Fall. Do any of you guys looking for roommate? I will be moving from Buffalo.

For all of you who have been accepted, do you mind sharing your stats? I am still eagerly waiting to hear for Fall and really hope I get in!!

I had a 3.3 undergrad (from many years ago) and a 4.0 in pre reqs. My undergrad degree had nothing to do with health or bio, masters degree was in public health. Best of luck!!!

I got in! So excited. I found out 2 weeks ago. I'm from Miami and unfamiliar with the DC/Virginia area. I can't wait to meet you all! Should we start a FB group?

Congratulations!!! Yes, there is already a group...it's called "GWU ABSN Fall 2018" I think. I'm not the administrator of it but you can request to be added I think. My husband is from Miami - love it down there. I've lived here (Northern VA) all my life and am happy to answer any questions you have!

Thank you so much! I just joined! :) That would be amazing! Do you live in Ashburn? Do you know of any good communities relatively close to both the school and the DC metro area?

I live the next town over, about 15 minutes from campus. The school is about maybe 30 miles from the city of DC which can be quite a drive in traffic, but not a bad drive for occasional outings and exploring the city. The tough thing is, there's no way to really tell where your clinicals will be, as the locations are spread out quite a bit. Unless you are doing the Washington Squared program, in which case my understanding is that most of your clinicians will be at GW in DC. They do say they TRY to place you near your home but that is not always possible. Sadly, traffic here can be really awful. Herndon or Reston are still very accessible to campus (approx 15 minutes without traffic) and are slightly further east (toward DC) from campus. I believe most, if not all, clinical sites are East from of campus. So those locations might shave off a tad bit of your commute to clinicals but I'd still be prepared to fight traffic no matter where your clinical is. However, we may be starting clinical early enough (6:30/7:00am) that traffic wouldn't be as much of an issue. Sorry for the novel, happy to answer any other questions!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how much the ABSN program at GWU cost?

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to all that have admitted to the program thus far. I was recently accepted to through the VABSN program. I was wondering if anyone else here has submitted via the veteran path? I was also wondering if anyone knows if the two groups, ABSN and VABSN are put together or maintain in seperate cohorts?
