Hi, will anyone here be applying for the 2016 admissions for the CNL program at GRU in Augusta, GA?! If so could you share some of your career background/experience and stats! Also if some of you who are currently or have been in the program could give some input that would be awesome too!!
Still can't send private messages!
I finished up and submitted my application Sunday night. I took the MAT in July, because it was the cheaper of the two! The competitiveness of it scares me, too. This wasn't even really on my radar until this past summer. I've been teaching elementary school for the past 12 years. My husband actually just graduated nursing school, and watching him go through it made me really think about doing it myself. Since I already have a degree, this program made the most sense. I think it's a long shot, but if I get in then it was meant to be, right? And if I don't I'll just keep teaching, no harm no foul. I've still got to do both A&Ps, the micro, and chemistry. I'm planning on doing one a quarter and then I'll finish summer quarter right in time for the program to start. Of course, if I don't get in, I just won't take the rest of the classes! I wanted to get my app in early, hoping I'd get an answer sooner rather than later so I don't waste money on these classes if I don't need them. Anyway, that was probably WAY more than you wanted to know! Haha! Good luck to you, and maybe we'll both be there in the fall!!!
This makes me feel better...my GPA isn't great but I've got a pretty good test score. I hope my essay was good! Well, we shall see...I submitted my app and it's in the verification process. I know all my transcripts are in, except for the classes I'm taking now, and all of my references have completed their evaluations. Gulp.
I'm taking the MAT the end of September and am pretty nervous. I bought the Kaplan book to study, but I'm not sure how close it is to the test in terms of difficulty or format. My GPA will be a 3.06 at the time of application (I will still have Microbiology, Chem 1, and Stats to complete after the fact)., I'm hoping that I can pull a good MAT score and that my references/work experience/leadership/essay/upward GPA trend will boost my application a bit. For those of you that took the MAT, did you find it to be harder or easier than you anticipated? I will be applying mid-October, as soon as my MAT scores are in and my current transcript is updated to reflect my completion of A&P II this term. Thankfully my references are "on the ball" and writing their letters this week.
I'm thinking about taking the MAT at the end of September as well just in case I need to retake it again then I'll have time to do so. My sister recently got into a Public Health program and she was required to take the MAT and she did so without studying and did well. I'm currently studying the Kaplan book and some of the terms used are difficult but from what my sister told me, it was not the same on the actual test!

Wow! Thank you so much this is truly going to help me while going through this process! I'll be taking the MAT which I find is a little hard to study for and I'm in the middle of putting together my personal statement which I want to stand out!
