GRU / Augusta University MSN CNL Fall 2017

Published

Hey guys, anyone else applying to the CNL program at Augusta University ( previously known as GRU)? I am going to be applying and if admitted I think I would prefer to make my move a few months post acceptance. I have 2 bachelors and my passion is with Psychiatric Mental health but I really don't want another Bachelors so the CNL seems just fine to have under my belt until I maneuver into a DNP program. It all sounds so pricey but in the end I believe it will be worth the while. I know I am early but hopefully others are interested. My scores aren't great but I saw people with similar scores with acceptance so lets just pray. I have great grades it is just one school gave me F's instead of W's when I withdrew in 2008 and I have had hell getting it off my record but it has no bearing on my gpa it is still "good" just not where it could be without 4-5 F's.

Hey everyone!! I am a current CNL student at Augusta University! I am in the Class of 2017, so I was just in your shoes last summer. I remember reading this blog daily and staying tuned in for updates and advice. I wish all of you the very best of luck!!! If you are accepted, please message me so you can take a look at my textbooks from my first semester. I will bundle/negotiate prices/meet/mail, etc. to make the process easier and less expensive for you! I just don't want to sell them online because of the shipping costs and other hassles..I don't have a lot of time for stuff like that, and once you are in the program, you won't either!! :) Best of luck everyone.

I will ABSOLUTELY take a look at your books if I'm accepted!:)

Good luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow!!! You're gonna do great!

You're welcome, future classmate! :geek:

Whew - glad the interview is over. It was short and sweet. Everyone was very nice. Now I just have to wait :nailbiting:

I'm glad yours went well! I was in and out in about 7 minutes. I thought last year's went fast, but this year had it beat! Now the wait begins:)

Specializes in SRNA.

I hope all the interviews today went well!! It was great getting to know those (if any) of you that interviewed at the Athens campus today. Best of luck to y'all :)

Is anyone still waiting for interviews? I applied in November and my application still says "Ready for Review". Granted I was still taking developmental psychology and just resent my transcript this week but I thought I would hear something by now.

hello guys, this is actually my first time chatting here. am actually based in Chicago but will be moving to Augusta because of the CNL program. I actually have my prerequisite done am only stuck with the GRE for now I took it once and I had 273 without the essay part I actually did not know there was an essay part. I plan to take it again end of this month but honestly am not too prepared for it. am actually planning to apply this august 2017, firstly, who knows when the class starts and what are the steps after applying? I plan to do my DNP too but I have C in statistics so I have to take that again. can you also work while in the program, how hectic is the program and please is there accommodation close to the campus, also what kind of loan is best to get for the program and how much would the tuition be with books added and if anyone have materials from previous class to give out please am interested. will be moving to Augusta in august fully. its big step and a big decision for me. also I joined the Facebook group I think it would be really easier and better to chat on. thanks

Enny,

Hopefully I can answer a few of your questions:) Last summer class started around the 17th of August I believe, with orientation the week prior. That was for those who were accepted last winter. I imagine it would be around the same week this year, although no official word has come out yet obviously. After submitting a completed application, it will be reviewed by the admissions committee (I believe that's who reviews them). If they are interested, you will be contacted for an interview. If that goes well, you will be accepted. As far as tuition goes, they don't appear to have the CNL program in particular listed this year under their tuition breakdown however this link will show you their graduate programs and associated tuition rates:

As far as work goes, everyone I have spoken to (both faculty and former students) have reiterated just how difficult, if not impossible, it would be to maintain employment while in the program. It's VERY intensive from what I gather, and your clinical schedule and class schedule can't be adjusted at all to accommodate any employment. While I'm sure they can't flat out forbid someone from working, the faculty made it a point to reiterate during my first interview how much they discourage outside employment while in the program. As far as loans go, I'm not quite sure because I will be using my GI Bill benefits. Good luck!

Thank you so very much for the response it really answered most of the questions. For the biography, reference, resume do you send them to nursingcas? Also what is GI bill benefits and is there a max loan for augusta? Which you can get and it will help pay your rent, bills etc. i am actually moving from Illinois so am just a little sceptic about how to survive in a new environment. Thanks. I thought the application starts august 25 till February 1 at leadt for the ongoing one so that means the semester starts right before the application open. Mmmmmm!! Thanks for the heads up. Am just trying to be super ready!! Thanks a lot!! Hope to meet you personally!!
