GRU / Augusta University MSN CNL Fall 2017

Published

Hey guys, anyone else applying to the CNL program at Augusta University ( previously known as GRU)? I am going to be applying and if admitted I think I would prefer to make my move a few months post acceptance. I have 2 bachelors and my passion is with Psychiatric Mental health but I really don't want another Bachelors so the CNL seems just fine to have under my belt until I maneuver into a DNP program. It all sounds so pricey but in the end I believe it will be worth the while. I know I am early but hopefully others are interested. My scores aren't great but I saw people with similar scores with acceptance so lets just pray. I have great grades it is just one school gave me F's instead of W's when I withdrew in 2008 and I have had hell getting it off my record but it has no bearing on my gpa it is still "good" just not where it could be without 4-5 F's.

Enny;

most of your application will will be done through NursingCAS. If you have any trouble the support team is amazing! after you take your GRE or MAT tests, you can directly send the results to the school. If your unable to make the minimum requirements on the GRE, try taking the MAT. The set up is different. The GI Bill is educational assistance for military personnel and their families. If you get accepted definitely fill out a FAFSA. If you qualify you can receive grants from the government to help pay for school. It's based on income. As far as loans, I do not think there is a max for graduate/doctoral programs like there is for undergraduate programs. I know many people in medical school who took out enough loans for tuition and living expenses. AU does offer on campus housing but there are many apartment complexes nearby. Just make sure you do your research because some parts of Augusta are not as safe as others. Also look into North Augusta,SC.

Hope this helps you out!

Like RunFast mentioned, the GI Bill is for veterans and their families so it would be different than student loans:) The application cycle runs from August 25th-February 1st for entry into the cohort the following August. So the deadline to apply via NursingCAS for admission this coming August is coming up in about 2 weeks. The application cycle opening August 25th will be for the class beginning August 2018. I just wanted to make sure to clarify because I wasn't sure if your post meant you were applying in August 2017 or applying to begin the program in August 2017:)

It did help a lot am really grateful and I appreciate your response but one more thing though, if application starts August 25 to February 1 does that mean class starts before every cycle of registration which i assume starts august 17? Am thinking of applying this August even though i still have time for this cycle but i really do not want to rush myself. Does that mean my class will start august 17 approximately 2018? Mmmmm!! Thanks

Thanks yeah i got it now.

I got an email on Oct 26 that my application was under review. I still have not heard anything!! Anyone in the same boat?

Hey guys, hope we all having a great. Please who knows the best neighborhood to live close to the school in augusta. Thanks!!

Honestly, I would suggested spreading your search radius out a little bit to find a safe neighborhood, even if it means a small commute. The majority of the neighborhoods around the Health Sciences campus are not particularly safe, especially at night.

Wow!!! So where would you suggest please.? Thanks!!

hh111, I don't know if they go in order or if they have a certain way of organizing who they interview and when:( Did you have anything still pending?

Wow!!! So where would you suggest please.? Thanks!!

There are a lot of good places in Martinez and Evans if you are willing to commute a little bit. I don't have much experience on the SC side (North Augusta area), so hopefully someone can give a little insight there:) I know there are apartments close to the Health Sciences campus that were built for the medical community, I just don't know how safe that whole area is at night.

Thanks a lot I googled places in evans, grovetown and martinez and i checked their reviews too. They are pricey but i rather get that than live in a ghetto or pest infested area or crime dominated area. Some reviews are really scary!!

Grovetown is definitely going to be a lengthy drive to campus and the Evans traffic is horrible. There are some nicer apartments off Walton Way in the Summerville area. Most are AU students. This is a nicer area of town and is still close to campus. North Augusta has some nice apartments as well. NA is so close to the medical distract. If you stay off Martintown Rd it'll be around a 10minute commute. Most of NA is safe too.

Has as anyone heard back from their interviews? The deadline is coming up so we should know our class pretty soon!!
