GRU / Augusta University MSN CNL Fall 2017

Published

Hey guys, anyone else applying to the CNL program at Augusta University ( previously known as GRU)? I am going to be applying and if admitted I think I would prefer to make my move a few months post acceptance. I have 2 bachelors and my passion is with Psychiatric Mental health but I really don't want another Bachelors so the CNL seems just fine to have under my belt until I maneuver into a DNP program. It all sounds so pricey but in the end I believe it will be worth the while. I know I am early but hopefully others are interested. My scores aren't great but I saw people with similar scores with acceptance so lets just pray. I have great grades it is just one school gave me F's instead of W's when I withdrew in 2008 and I have had hell getting it off my record but it has no bearing on my gpa it is still "good" just not where it could be without 4-5 F's.

I can only speak for the Augusta campus, but our schedules were similar I believe. We had lab Mon and Friday from 9am until 1pm (I believe that Athens only had lab on Mondays and just had a longer day to cover what we covered over the two days that week). Clinical on Tuesday from 6:30am-3pm (unsure which day Athens does clinical exactly, but the times were the same). Wednesdays we had off. Thursday was lecture 9am-4pm and both Athens and Augusta listened to the lecture simultaneously. I hope this helps!

I can speak about the Athens campus. Our schedule for fall semester went like this:

Monday: Skills lab 8am - 5pm

Thursday: Class 9am - 4pm

Friday: Optional open lab hours 9am - 1pm

Then we were assigned one clinical day from 6:30am - 3pm on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.

I also heard that you guys have 2 classes (I believe patho & epi online) is this true? What is your schedule like for this semester if you dont mind?

We have 4 classes each semester and clinical days. Our schedule this semester is very similar to last semester except we have no open lab on Fridays and extra clinical days. I would only use our current schedule as a guideline because I hear that they may be changing the schedule around a bit.

We had two classes online, they were Biostatistics & Epidemiology and Health Care Policy. We had to find time outside of class to complete the work for those classes. Last semester, both online courses required a lot of group work (you are assigned a group the first day). I'm not sure if it's going to be the same next Fall.

Hello Everyone!

I have a Bachelors in Chemistry and been thinking about applying to MSN-CNL program at AU for Fall 2019. I guess, what worries me most is ability to find a job afterwards...

I know this is an old thread but i wanted to ask former students and current students questions! I recently got accepted into the program. I was wondering how many students graduate and work as cnls after a few months or a year of bed side, and how many students further study into the dnp program. Im from out of state and would like to move back after i graduate but i want to take the opportunity of easily transitioning into the dnp program with augusta, how much of it is online and how much is in person. Would it be possible for me to live out of state and do the dnp program? Is there anyone who went straight into the dnp after graduation? Alot to figure out! I know im thinking a few steps ahead of the game but i was really interested in this program with the passion to continue into np program down the road and this pathway seemed awesome and realistic since im a second degree!
