Grey's Anatomy Premier!!! + How to Contact Show Creators

Published

Oh my god! I haven't posted in a long time, but I just had to post again. I'm watching the premier of Grey's Anatomy -- any of you see this?? (new show on ABC)

The Doctor, after being questioned by a nurse says, "I'm just a resident, but you take 4 years of medical school, and let me know if I'm right." (Did I quote it right?)

Then, as he walks away he says, "I hate nurses."

Then, he walks up to a female resident and mistakenly calls her a nurse and she responds, with anger and indignation, "Did you just call me a nurse?" As though it were a racial slur!

I mean, nurses have historically been marginalized in many mass media outlets, but this is amazing!!

Strong Medicine does also. Did anyone not catch that it was another intern that started the syphillis epidemic?

I actually enjoy Grey's Anatomy. My boyfriend and I always watch it together (he's a nurse too) and we like yelling out at the TV whats wrong with the patient before the interns do. There was also an episode where one of the interns was telling the nurse to put orders in for a patient and we both yelled at the same time, "Put 'em in yourself". It just makes for a good laugh for the both of us.

Sorry folks, I saw the title and thought it was about the book. And about something important.

I'm so glad I don't watch TV (except for hockey of course)

I dislike Grey's anatomy. I watched it once and thought it was pretty stupid, I didn't catch the episode where they talk down about being a nurse. I think the characters are annoying. ..I prefer ER, the nurses arent portrayed as being stupid because their career choice didnt involving 4 plus years of schooling. It annoys me when your viewed as being dumber than a MD, when I think nurses do more work than a actual MD, they spend more time with the patient, the doctor spends maybe 10 minutes with you. I would like to see it cancelled, but I believe its getting rave reviews (i think, not to sure..Hate the show so I don't pay much attention to anything having to do with it) Also, Scrubs was much better than Grey's.

Ah, but the nurse got it from another INTERN!!! :)

Judging from the length of the "syphyllis line," the Intern or the nurse or both appear to have been pretty busy :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

I know, that was funny.

I can't imagine continuing to work someplace where you've had a sexual relationship with someone and then broken up . . . AND gotten an STD. :uhoh21:

(I've actually seen this happen in real life)

I've seen it too. When I worked in No. CA (about an hour north of SF) our "big house" had a family practice residency program of 27 FP residents. There were so many relationships among the residents, the residents and the nurses, the nurses and the attendings, it was hard to keep it all straight. And there were few secrets either. I'm so much wiser (and older!) now. :chuckle

..I'm really hoping that they just think that this happens at actual hospital settings... And didn't bother to do any research before writting the show. I don't think that every single doctor thinks that a nurse is lower than them ( I hope not)

And they actually have an LPN (Malikh - sp?) and he's just as cool as the RN's.So YEAH! Go ER again :p

I have 2 favorites; ER, Trauma, Life in the ER, and Untold Stories from the ER, actual stories told by the doctors who experienced them.

Grey's Anatomy is getting more humurous, though. But first of all, I don't like the oriental doctor's character. She appears to be a cold, uncaring person. I would not like to have a doctor like that in real life. But I thought the Chief was the one who had it and passed it down the ranks. His wife cheated on him, but didn't tell him, because she wanted him to think it was his??? But his doc did, and the boy was devastated. Then when the doc whose wife introduced herself to the doc's girlfriend, made me laugh. The intern was shocked because aparently he didn't tell her he was married. I would not want to be the recipient of yon wife's wrath.:chuckle

I must say I only caught the last 20 mins and I love it. After I get my BS in nursing I am going to medical school. It has always been a dream of mine. That show made me realize that everything I do and all the courses I take is for that goal. Just the thought that can be me...

OK. I read this entire thread to make sure this hasn't been covered already. If you want to be a physician, why do you feel you need to go to nursing school? It would seem to me that that would be a lot of wasted time and expense. But, then again, I don't know, I'm not standing in your shoes . I just had to ask.
