Hi all,
I am new to this site and new to nursing - hopefully! I am applying to the LPN program at GL Tech evening division. Is anyone else here going or has gone to that program? I am taking the NET in June (the last test date) and I just ordered study materials. I have to pass it because it is the last time they offer it!!! I am 40yrs old and completely changing my career so I am hoping I am not the oldest in the program if I get in. So send out a hello if you are going to the program at Lowell Tech.
Thanks
Susan
Holy crap I GOT IN!!!! Hollaaaaaa! Im sooo excited that I finally got the acceptance letter. I was checking the mailbox every day this week lol! Thanks for all the good wishes guys I am soooo relieved right now. I will be in the day class.
Woooooooooo! Congratulations, I can't wait!! Dudeee now we can be study buddies! lol
Can anyone who is in the program tell me if you use a home computer/laptop/printer a lot? I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before starting and I am contemplating getting a new laptop if you use it alot since the one I have now is so old. Also, if there are any other supplies you recommend - I would appreciate any info......Thanks!
Hi,
We do have projects due that require you to type papers. Some people don't mind not have a computer and feel fine with going to the library. I like to be at home so having my laptop and computer at home works for me.
If doing flash cards works for you then I would suggest start buying them now. You may want to make good use of your time and write your flash cards while you are in class. One less thing to do later.
I myself just have one big binder with seven tabs to seperate the subject. I have some white lined paper in each section but for the most part I take notes on the power points that they give us. As my folder gets bigger I put stuff that I will need to study for the big test in a seperate binder.
I love my highlighters, many pens and many pencils. Every test you have will be done in the testing center and you will become a pro at filling in the circles with your pencil.
Some people put all of their books in the rolling backpacks others carry them in a good size bag. I think first semester we were carrying around a lot more books than we are now.
I am at my wits end and just tired of studying and studying.....it seems as thou every week is the same thing. Clinical and a ton of paper work and then stressing out about my tests on Thursday and Friday. There just doesn't seem to be enough time and I just want it to end!!! I can't wait for Good Friday and then April Vacation. I was told that typically in March students are just done and by April we will start to get excited and our energy back...I hope so. The end is near and I just have to stay focused.
I love to read about your excitement, it reminds me of how I felt last year at this time.
Congratulations!
Hey Sawyer,
Glad to hear you are in for the upcoming year. I am still in the program, switched to days.
It has been really hard but it will be worth it in the end. There are many people who work and go thru the program at the same time. I give them a lot of credit, I don't think I would be able to do both and still pass.
Any questions feel free to email me and good luck to all of you!
