    BSN is a joke

Yes, but hospitals in this area will not hire any nurses unless they have a BSN. to be very honest, I find that a nurse who has gone through the ranks to be much more qualified, hands on and able to think than most of the BSN I have interviewed.

Would you ever own a motorcycle? YES or NO?

Just before I took my first lesson, I witnessed a fatal accident. It brought to light how bad it can be. I still ride have been for over 10 years, but as a rider you know what could happen. The sad part is when it isn't the bikers fault. I feel no empathy when a dumb rider does stupid things, but it breaks my heart when I hear about some car driver who crossed a line, or missed a stop sign.

Sawyer are you days or evenings? sorry dont want to go back and read whole thread. I was the woman third (?) one from your right. Was standing beside your co worker for a while. I spoke a lot that night, and kept going up to the back to answer your questions I think? You were sitting in your coworkers seat? If you have any other questions let me know. I was days and there are some tips that I could give you. The teachers are awesome on days and will do everything to help. I came out of a trade with no knowledge of nursing and did ok. good luck

Hi all, shoes- as long as they are completely white, nothing else you should be ok. CD's- don't need them at all, just used to study- not many used them as far as I know. Questions in all books are important. IE: end of chapters etc. Books-Tabers,Davis Lab and Nurse Pocket guide are critical- you will use them often if on list. the two Notes lpn and med/surg I never opened, don't have time or space to use. I used a wheel bag for the first term, couldn't carry all my books, by end of year just book bag. Uniform- watch is cheep piece of crap- most broke, you can use anything with a second hand. Lots didn't use the lab coat. If you cold you may want it, if your usually hot don't really need it. White socks are imperative, many spoken to about wearing them. Think I answered most, I will check in again. Good luck all. It is an amazing journey.

Ya hooooo All the day students from 3rd term have passed. Some didn't know until the very last day. Good luck to you all who are getting ready. I know they are starting to plan your arrival. This was the hardest thing I have ever done. As far as the fitting for uniforms, they do have a set day- but I ended up going to Heros after the day and still getting mine in time. Hope to see you all when we come in to talk about our year.

Hi all, yes this is the hardest thing I have ever done. As far as what to learn before hand, I could not even give you a hint. I wish personally I had learned the drug classes and basic information. The second term is completely different than the first. I assume that the third is going to be to be just as different. Please don't think that you can work and do this, especially during the second term. Those that do are struggling. Other than that take the vacations and do all your reports, don't think of it as a break. good luck all.

    confused new student

I am a 46 year old, career changer myself. I love nursing school. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, and I was a VP working 16 hour days running a plant. This is so much more forefilling. You can do it be be prepared-it is a lot of work, but I find that the older students tend to put more into it and not waste time.

ditto with days. We had an hour and 1/2 break from first term to second. There isn't a break- and we are just as overwhelmed. We lost 4 total. 2 were gone early one by choice and two at the end of term. Its hard to see empty seats. Good luck nights looking forward to graduating with you all in July.....

To all trying to get in good luck. The interview is actually the easiest part. The testing center is were you will spend a good part of your mornings if you do get in. We have had up to 6 tests in one week with Clinicals on Mondays. so for the first term your in class for four days and clinical one. For the interview if you really want this then let them know. They are not joking when they say that you will have to study everyday and weekends. Your in class from 8-2:30 and studing for a at minimum a few hours a night and weekends. Yes it is worth it...... d

Good to hear from you. Ya this course is tough. The were not kidding when they said how much studying was needed. I seem to study all the time. It is week three and we have had 6 exams so far. Tomorrow is our second clinical- I am it Saints 5th floor for first term- that isn't so bad- but tomorrow is the first time we get a patient. Of the 10 of us that are together over there only one is a CNA. That means we are in this together. Good to know how you guys are fairing.

Hi all, just found this site and got to read the excitement about how everyone felt over the summer waiting to get in. Is anyone here in the day program? I am one of the 40 yr old women on days who did go to the summer boot camp. Which I think was filled with more of the night group. How are you guys fairing? It seems as tough as they said. Have to study many hours a night. d
