Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
I am finishing statistics and will be taking nursing research next. Any tips on good teacher? Please pm me. I am taking stat with a teacher that was recommended to me and she is really good.
I need to update! I contacted the instructor about the paper because she asked about something I had answered. She changed my grade. All is well now!
I'm interested in who is good for Community Health. That's the class I have next!

Intro to Research or Research? I've only had Intro so far.
I want to say that I enjoy my classes for my BSN far more than I expected to. I hate every second of writing, but I enjoy the topics and have found all of my instructors to be engaging and at least mildly interesting so far. What does everyone else think?

Intro to nursing research. How is this class? To much work?
I didn't find it any worse than any of the other classes. I learned how to critique research which will come in handy for the capstone class for sure!

I agree. Even the instructor I totally despised made me challenge myself. I learned something in every single class.

It is a HUGE part of the capstone. Lots and lots of literature review!

When are you starting CH?
NurseConnie, I plan to take a 60 day leave after this class finished next week. I'll start CH after that.

Thanks Winter for the CH instructor tip. I was able to get her, but I have to overlap with Assessment the last 3 weeks, which is slightly better than overlapping 4 weeks like I was going to have to do for the other instructor that I wanted. I think it will be worth it though.
