Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Stats was one of the easiest class for me. I did all the weekly assignment on 1day. I am going for wee2 of intro to research and this class also doesn't seem too much time consuming.
I can't ever respond too this, lol. You must have a math brain. Lucky you!
My poor husband is like you. That stuff came easier to him. His problem was he hadn't done stats in years, so he read a lot, and helped me by explaining things so they made sense. One assignment world take me an entire day to finish.
Taking anymore stats scares the pants off me.
Tokmom - was your capstone a 36 page paper plus all the other things? (exec summary, powerpoint,....)
Yes. That's correct.
Yes. That's correct.
I had an executive summary, PowerPoint roughly 15 slides, two surveys, bulletin. I think that's it.
Then the paper was thirty six pages.
You don't submit the extras with the paper, because the PowerPoint et al., can't go through tii.

Forgot to add. They go through the individual forum.
Tokmom - Do you also have DQ's and 6 responses to other DQ's on top of everything else?
Yes you do. I know...ugh. They reminded me of the ones from research. It's a very busy class.
BUT THE LAST ONE!
I literally danced around the room when I completed the very last dq!!

Yes, that was me. OMG, how I hated those things toward the end.
I haven't even asked yet, still debating on whether to get one or not. I got one when I got my ADN. Had it all of 2 days and it was in my purse, which was stolen I was SO upset!
And why does my capstone not seem as long? Now I feel like I'm doing something wrong!

I'm not a pin wearer. I finally found my ADN pin! That sucks yours was stolen. . You would at least think they would return a pin.
I do wear the gcu pin on my lanyard along with this really cool vintage BSN pin which was given to me by a friend. :).
Don't worry about your paper length. You probably stayed within the word count of 5000. How many pages/words is it? I do believe Pandora was a touch over, and I think page count less. Thirty six is everything from title to references, etc..actual paper/body somewhere in the twenties.
Don't worry, you are fine :)
