Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

You can take two 60 day leaves. I definitely need it. She almost died tonight. Paper will be late. Great.

I'm peeking my head out of whatever dirt mound I've been hiding under to say I have 2 weeks of school left! OMG capstone is no joke! I can't wait to sleep!

Hey sunshine, we have missed you! Who is your professor?

It's a lot of work and the dq are painful. Who needs more work, right?

I have been SO busy between work and school these last few weeks! My schedule has been ridiculous. I'm hoping the new one that comes out has me working better days :/

And I have the same one you did! She's SO nice!

Does anyone have the link for the pin? I never got info on it!

Ask your advisor. They should have it. I think my email is gone. I never had it sent to me. It was Pandora who told me and she sent me her link.

Isn't that prof nice? Love her rules. I couldn't see taking this class with an APA, point reducing crazy person.

I am in Intro to Nursing Research and have to start research on a topic of my choice. The teacher recommended start thinking of something that will be used in the capstone project. But what is the capstone project? Do I have to chose a topic that has not being proven yet or can it be like hospital acquired UTI for example. I heard some university have students develop an educational class (like CEUs) in powerpoint format as the capstone project. How is for GCU? I really want to start doing my assignments thinking of the capstone so that when comes time to it I have started something on it at least.

Smart to start thinking now, and develop you Pico and gather research articles. It will help your stress level in the long run.

The capstone can be on any subject you like. Some did post-op n/v, chf and the community, bullying, uti, hand washing. You don't have to write about something that isn't proven, thankfully. Mine was on compassion fatigue and burnout. My Pico was based around interventions related to b.o and c.p and if there was a decrease in facilities that attempted to decrease with programs. You then have to develop tools needed that you might need to sell the sizzle to management to implement a program. That may be an executive summary, PowerPoint, pamphlets etc. Everything you utilize to develop your project are things YOU HAVE TO CREATE. example..I needed to sell my program (hypothetically) to management, so I needed a executive summary and PowerPoint. A bulletin went into the breakroom, so I had to make that. I also had a pre and post test. Overall I had five addendum. I had to think how my project would be implemented and measured for success.

Bottom line..make it something of interest to you, because it's a lot of little projects and your paper. Mine was 36 pages, but only because there is a word limit, lol.

Wow. Thank you for the info. I have to think mine. I need to turn in my assignment tomorrow for the intro to research class as I will be working the remaining of the week. So I want to finish tomorrow and wanted to choice something that I would use for my capstone. I think is more complex that I was thinking. Thanks again

I start stats on Monday, so I should probably get around to scheduling my intro to research class that comes next. I'm wondering how intensive intro to research is, because I'm really burnt out and I will be taking a one or two week break before it starts. If it's intensive then I will go for the two weeks and rest more before hand.

Status quo to the rest of the program, so you should be fine. :)
