Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

My pages are now working again

And now it says I have no current classes, which just about gave me a heart attack.

YaY, I'm back! lol.

Mine are working again now. I had a mini heart attack at work. I went and found one of my co-workers that is in the program too and made her sign on and see if it said the same thing. She was trying to tell me to calm down, but I was so worried they would have lost all the progress I had done in the class. I only have 1 assignment left to turn in. I was NOT pleased. They should warn people before they do something like this.

Ya they should give more of a heads up........i know in the past while they have had a few issues

Hey Murse,

How is it going?

Someone send me some focus vibes, please.. I need to finish editing this monster of a paper, but the weather is so pretty, that I want to go play. If I stay on task, I can turn this bad boy in on Monday, post my 2 dq and be done with GCU :woot:

Except for answering a few questions for participation, but that's doable.

So, now that we are on our way to our BSN, I'm curious, how many will use that particular title behind their name? I'm certified, and I rarely use the CMSRN behind the RN and only do so in formal correspondence at work.

Each their own....no right or wrong answer.....I prob won't as it doesn't really matter to me..it is just a check in the box.....some of the best nurses I know are Diploma nurses......I'm just playing the game.....Don't get me wrong, I enjoy learning, but many of these classes one has to take to get ones BSN, won't make me a better nurse....I'd rather take more job orientated classes.

I think this program has made me a better nurse and taught me things that the ADN did not and I think I'm more focused on different aspects of nursing. However, this is a long awaited badge of glory for me, yet I feel silly using it.

Agreed that titles don't make you a better nurse. I think we all know some smart ADN and pretty dumb MSN nurses, who are book smart and that's about it.

As for GCU, I'm already using this degree in leadership classes and in committee work. The other day my manager wanted an executive summary on a process we are attempting to implement and the risk manager who is on another committee, sent me an email asking me to perform a literature review on electronic documentation and lawsuits.

I will put it when I apply to new jobs. That is about it. Doesn't change the fact that I am an RN. It just gave me a lot more student loan debt.

Specializes in UR/CM, Managed Care.

Ummm, that sounds like more homework!! What the hay!? Dang, don't tell me my job is going to make me USE this degree (after they paid for most of it)?? LOL :nailbiting:
