Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Tokmom, do you mind PMing me your instructor for capstone? I took your advice on other instructors s well!
done. :)
Guess what?? I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (they really need some celebratory icons on AN. These are rather anti-climatic, lol).
Yep, I turned in that bad boy in this morning and posted both DQ to the forum. Now I just have to correct any errors she finds and then submit the entire project to GCU land where it will stay for eternity. Maybe they will think it's so freaking brilliant that they will beg me to publish it and I will make millions.
WHOOT WHOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW, so it's really true? We get a Bachelor's Degree (capitalized for emphasis!) after all this work and trauma? I was so afraid at the end of all this someone was going to send a pop-up email that says, "PSYCH! You're half-way to MSN, log in to sign up for your next class!"
I'm afraid when I'm done the first thing I'm going to need is an ACDF for my "computer neck", carpal tunnel surgery, a year's worth of IVabx for my CAUTI and wound care for my stage IV sacral decub (after someone peels me out of this chair!)
OMG, for real! I can't imagine thinking everything was done, only to find out...that!
Just when I think of going for my Masters, I look at the fat I have accumulated from sitting, and it puts me back into reality.
LOL, the BSN comes with a price they didn't tell us about. Don't forget the extra poundage from not moving!
I actually need one of these for my job! All kidding aside, as much time as I spend doing schoolwork, I'm so happy I finally decided to do this. It is soooo worth it and the time really is flying. Before you know it, we'll all be sending out the WHOOOOT messages! And if we hadn't bit the bullet, the time would have gone by anyway and we'd have nothing to show for it. Yay us, I hope we're all proud of ourselves! :)
I love that! A toilet and laptop. Now it needs a drink holder.
Yes, everyone should be proud of themselves. We have all worked hard to get where we are and have sacrificed family time.
done. :)
I would be interested in your choice for capstone as well.
This is the first time there are two assignments plus DQs due in one week. Is this just this class or is this going to become the norm? How am I going to get it all done.

What class is it? It's definitely not the norm, but it does happen occasionally...
